Please accept my apologies, I was wondering whether it was just me, or if everyone was getting it, and it's just been confirmed by a caring Pro9'er that I'm not the only one experiencing problems with the performance of the Pro9 website.
I'll get the engineers on the case immediately, and hopefully we'll get the problem licked asap.

Hmmmm... Latest, from the engineers...
"There were continuous hits from a Chinese search engine "baidu" and we believe that might have caused the high resource consumption. I have added the baiduspider deny setting in the "robots.txt" file in the public_html folder of the account and currently the crawling from the baiduspider appears to have reduced. It might take some time to completely stop access from that bot, their forum post is pasted below. Please let us know in case the problem persists again. The following entries were added in the robots.txt file.
User-Agent: Baiduspider Disallow: /
--------------- "Baidu strictly complies with robots.txt protocol. But our DNS updates periodically. If you have set robots.txt, due to the updating, Baidu needs some time to stop crawling your site."
