Hi ALL,

I spotted a date for the British Open in a recent forum item, but I cannot remember which one and I am not sure if this was a confirmed date or not.

I think the 26-29 July was mentioned.

Does anybody know if this is definitely happening and whether the dates above are correct ?

Thanks in advance
Simmo

As Shir says this event is the UK 9-ball Championships (not the British Open) - I was under the impression that this event was invite only to the top 32 on the rankings - may have got it wrong though!

They should have a qualifier definatly can't see why one entry can't be for the winner of that.

should be top 16 and then 16 qualifiers but done like the snooker so players ranked 17-32 only have to win one match to qualify

that is a good idea but what i don't think is right is if you are new to the BPPPA then you have no chance of playing in the biggest event in UK, because of the 2 year rolling points system if you joined this year you won't be able to play.

if they used the above system why not as any paid up member of the tour could play..................and if they wanted to try and increase the prize fund they could offer a "one off" tournament membership as per the bpppa events then anybody in the uk could pay this to try and qualify........the way i see it the more people involved the bigger the potential pot and the bigger the pot the more chance of some tv bods having a look at it!!!

Hi Guys,

Just to try and get things back on track (I dont want to be responsible for kicking of a negative forum item).
The objective of the post was to find out if there were anymore details on the event and some clarification of the dates as it is in the holiday time of the year.
I don't think we should assume too much without knowing the detail as there could well be qualifiers etc etc :-)
Lets wait until we have all the detail :-)

Cheers
Simmo

we are only specualting on what we know already, at begining of the year this was stated that top 32 would only be allowed to play in the 'open', theres nothing wrong with expressing ideas.
i understand what your saying by waiting but we are only expressing our opinions on what hopefully will be the outcome.

Whatever this event is called I'm pretty certain it will be open to all BPPPA members first, have a total field of either 192 or 256 and be played at the City of manchester Stadium. If you need any further information please email Ted.

i feel that an event called the british OPEN should be OPEN to anyone anywhere as long as they contribute an entrance fee. in golfs open, poker opens and indeed the 9-ball world championship itself, anyone can not only dream of victory but can on paper, win the event outright if they perform out of their skin. to me a national open is all about giving everybody a glimmer of hope that they can rise from the unknown to be the best.

It's not the British 9 Ball Open, that these dates are for, it's the UK 9Ball Championshp, if you look on the bpppa website calendar or on here, you'll be able to see it for yourselves :)

The Britsh Open has yet to be given further details by BPPPA and/or World Pool Media, as to if and/or when and where it will be held :)

I hope that this clears up any confusion guys :)
