http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs

here's an idea to help raise the profile of our beloved sport.

Channel 4 have a short film/documentary site called fourdocs.

i'm sure there has to be a budding director, cameraman, writer etc on here that could make a documentry or short film about the sport in the UK.

These short clips are then available on channel4.com but a selection of them are regularly shown on tv as well (giving us extra publicity!)

Is there anyone out there clever, brave or just plain stupid enough to give this a go?

Just a suggestion.

I'm sure every sport would like some free publicity like this... You'd need something more than just Mr X playing on the Pro Tour... Some angle or especially interesting event or challenge.

How about highlighting what the young guns are doing? this would show the future potential of the British circuit, and the impact we can in the sport in the future?. You could also use it to show the diversity including w/chair n ladies etc.

some good ideas already, why not turn this into a series of small documentaries......how a tournement is setup & run, how players prepare for it, the tournament itself........

all just ideas, sadly my artistic skills are worse than my pool so i'm no use to anyone on this other than for chucking random ideas in to the pot.

Sounds really good for the sport, used the the same idea in Holland for a regional channel..
ended up being recognised by people on the street and more than a 100 new members to the club!

a Video diary of someone on the Euro Tour would be good. would show the players preparation, how he feels, superstitions, approach, a bit on that players profgress in the tournement and also a bit on the culture side f it (What players do after hours - outside the events!) i can think of a couple of brits who would make GREAT viewing entertainment on tour!
As a rule we do have a rule that kinda goes "What happens on tour, stays on tour!" however - im tempted to take a video camera to the next event in Czech Republic in Feb....lol

All you Brits out there, watch out - Ossies about!
