A bit of a shame, but probably a blessing in disguise given his inability to eat proper food for years...
RIP

He's been hanging on for many years now. But such a shame that a legend like him has passed. He will always be fondly remembered as a genius despite other things in his personal life.
RIP

OMG.... goose bumps reading this. Complete legend and the reason most of ever held a cue at all. Very very sad.

The biggest shock to me was he was only 61. I guess his illness made him look much older.

R.I.P Alex. I saw him play an exhibition match last year and got to spoke to him. He still had a pint of the black stuff on the go ! There was still some magic even then.

Watched him play with awe as a child. Sat with my dad and watching Alex is one of my earliest childhood memories. My dad loved watching him play so now the Higgins JP Mannock snooker cue sits next to my dads old ash cue in a beautiful hand made snooker case....and there they will both remain.
RIP Alex.....thank you for the memories.

David Hendon (EuroSport snooker and Sky Sports 8 Ball commentator) has put on Twitter that there will be a documentary about Alex Higgins on BBC2 at 9pm on 1st September. He says it's a new one that has been made since The Hurricane's passing. Best wishes thecardman
