I posted this, hoping to stimulate some discussion about how much greater Jenson's achievement is compared to our World Pool Champions - and why they don't get recognition like this?

Has he achieved more, dedicated himself more, what's the secret?

Ooooh thats an argumentative statement Dave! :)

I think you could look at Daz or Daryl in the same respects, working their way up through the different cue sport ranks and achieving world title status.

The only difference is our sport isnt run by billionaire Berni E!.

Please Mr Hearn come take 50% of our sport and do something with it!

When you are born with a silver spoon up your rear end and end up in racing because you can afford it, I don't think it merits as much as working your way through the trashy local pool halls, playing for virtually nil prize money, losing girlfriends (possibly) and friends to follow your dream. To make a living from professional pool is nigh on impossible to do especially if you perhaps don't have that much to start with.

I obviously don't know Darren or Daryl to speculate if they were rich or poor before they found stardom in the cue sports arena, but I'm guessing by their demeanours that they weren't born with millions in their pockets :)

I'm losing the thread a little lol. Jenson Button of course deserves credit - he risks his life racing at 200+ mph, and I couldn't imagine racing at 100mph let alone twice that. The concentration, fitness etc is intense. But does he deserve an MBE over Darren and Daryl? I don't think so, but the same can be said for John Lowe and Phil Taylor in darts (we of course know why Phil can't have an MBE, but John Lowe should have one).

On a side note, whether Jenson deserves an MBE or not, I commend him on having possibly one of the hottest girls I've ever seen on his arm!

There was an incident in late 1990's where two women accused him of sexually assaulting them in a motorhome while on an exhibition tour in Scotland. He was in line for the MBE and although he was never proven guilty of anything in the end, they wouldn't allow him to get awarded the MBE.
