How come they get so much money? Is it simply because they are on terrestrial tv or what?

It's on sky Dave, sounds like your thinking of the BDO darts. Not sure what there prize money is but don't think it will be close to the PDC

The BBC winner gets £100k with £325k in total prize money. There can only be a handful of players likely to win that including Hankey, Waites, Adams & O'Shea.
Given that nobody can get past Taylor on the PDC do you think they play on BDO as there's more chance of winning the top prize??
Also did you see Hankeys post match interview when the BDO and PDC players played in a tournament earlier in the year. He said that he hated the noisy crowds and thought they were disrespectful not allowing players to throw with no noise.

Yep i saw that it was at the grand slam in Wolerhampton, he also said he would win the BDO again this year! See how full of it he is!

He probably will win it, but much prefer to watch the atmosphere and talent of the PDC. Higher averages usually.

The averages for Martin Adams v Anthony Fleet were 86.16 and 65.34. Very rarely get into 100s.
Stephen Bunting, Brian Woods, Alan Norris, Ted Hankey, Dave Chisnall, Martin Phillips & Daryl Gurney were the only 1st Rnd players to get into the 90s and the highest was about 93 ish.
Compare that with the PDC where around 12+ players in the first round scored 90+ and of those 5 had 100+ averages. Must be all the noise that helps them to concentrate!!

Yeah, PDC in a different league to BDO....i fell asleep watching BDO on Saturday!
....And if you leave the World Championships aside for a minute, the actual PDC tour compared to the BDO is about 12 times bigger when it comes to prize funds. Go on planetdarts.tv and check out the "order of merit"
......and all because a certain Mr Phillip Taylor had an idea to make a break away from the "Official2 Organisation!!!!!! Now look at the PDC.
Dazzler....unsure about his flight tomorrow!

You cannot even compare the two organisations, thats why all the BDO stars like Fordham, Webster, Barney, G Anderson, Whitlock, Stompe, King, Thornton, Klassen, V De Voort etc all switch to PDC. To play professional darts against the best players in the world. Simple as that. Great link above, watched the match and Fleet never missed a double. He had double whiskey, double vodka etc before the match ha ha. He was out of his face. Quality TV!!! [ This message was edited by: TonyDavid on 2010-01-05 13:47 ]
