Have you seen these new fruit machines that appear to be showing up all over the place? I miss the old ones personally! Have you played them? What are they like?

I'm with you Dave. Prefer the old ones myself. these are too vegasy and I prefer the ones where you get on the feature like Casino Crazy. It seems the "old style" fruities are dying as these are appearing in bookies too. One good thing is that as I dislike them so much I don't play them so I have saved a fortune!!

Yes, I went to Victoria last night after "The Pressure Room's" gig in Kings Cross.

I watched some action for a while and had a chat with some of the tour players that reside there.

They've redesigned the match table area, and it's looking really airy and very VIP now!!! Very nice!

I expect the old ones will be coming back if that's what's happening!

Give my Casino Crazy, Psycho Cash Beast and Super Six any day!

These are all you get in Australia, and they are HUGELY popular. Mostly referred to as 'pokies' (short for poker machines).

The various combinations available allow you to blow heaps of cash in a very short time (e.g. play 25 lines @20c per line = $5 per spin!). When you win on them, it tends to be big as well though, especially if you bet high.

Certain machines have decent features, others dont - so be careful which you play.

I dont play them often, but I've had a few decent wins in the past - $1500 from a $50 stake was the best. The most I lost in one night was $100, but I usually walk away slightly up.

Some machines have pre-determined line patterns - I don't like this type - others you can play reels 1-5. A tip for playing them is: most wins happen to be only 3 of a kind, so if you get the option, only play reels 1, 2 and 3 instead of all 5, and you can bet much higher and therefore win lots more! E.g. 5 reel bet costs 28 credits, 3 reels cost 7 - bet the 3 reel option with 4x the stake you use on the 5 reel - then your wins are all 4x higher. You still have the chance of 4 and 5 of a kind, but only on the centre line. This system only rarely loses you cash as hitting 5 of a kind only sometimes pays more than 4x the pay for 3 of a kind, so even if you miss the 4 or 5 payout, you usually still make more with the increased pay on the 3.
