You'll probably have already heard this from other sources, but the passing of TV presenter David Vine was announced yesterday. For many of us, especially those of us reading these forums that watched snooker on TV from the late '70s until 2000, he was the face of snooker on TV. A personal favourite "bit" of his was the way he would introduce snooker's new World Champion to the audience - both in the theatre and watching on TV - by saying their name immediately followed by "Snooker Champion of the World". The way he said it and the way he did it made the new World Champion seem to be the most important person on the planet at that moment in time. Sure, he had been off our screens for nearly 9 years, but he will be sorely missed by fans of pretty much all sports. My condolences to his family and friends. thecardman ----------------- The Cardman's Blog

Yes, well said Cardie. Died on Sunday aged 73 years old - shame.

Yes I would echo those sentiments. It's also a timely reminder of how enjoyable snooker used to be to watch. Those were the days and all that..!
