I know many people were asking about Simon at the weekend and where he was.
His father, George, passed away in the week.
I am sure I speak on behalf of everyone on the circuit that our thoughts are with you and your family Sy in these hard times.

Very sad news.
George was a nice bloke and great to talk to.
I remember him telling that he used to go to the same Grammar School that I attended in Bradford.
I'm sorry for your loss Si

Thanks for all your kind posts & texts over the last 2 weeks everyone, they mean a great deal to me. I hope to be back playing next month, my Dad wouldn't want it any other way!
I'll miss his mindless barracking when he used to get a few too many drinks inside him, man that used to do my head in when it happened on tour - but I guess that's what my Dad did best, spoke his mind whenever he felt like it.
I know he used to really enjoy uk & eurotour events, not so much for the pool, but more to relax, have some fun and chat with good people - things he would always mention together whenever he spoke about uk pool with his friends. I'll always remember that about him.
Thanks again for all the support - hope to see everyone at the next GB9 event, if not before.
Sy..

Hello Simon my name is Asim
I am sorry to hear about your father, like your self I have recently lost my father Razzaq who passed away on the 9th Jan 2008.
There is not a day I dont think about my father, i do regret that I did not achieve certain things in my father's life time, which was due partly for taking him and his time on earth for granted.
But I was lucky that my father managed to live till 69 years despite having many health problems over the 10 year period since 1998.
Since his death I am now living on my own and now have to not only study, but support my self financially and with out my father i feel a little lost in life.
It has taken me weeks to come to terms and have only recently gone back to work and studies.
I know exactly what your going through and all I can say to you is be strong as this is the time when your family needs your support more than ever.
Please accept my deepest condolences and I hope that god gives you and your family strength in this very difficult time.
