In a couple of days we will see the final Eurotour of 2007.
There is normally a prize of 1500 euros for whoever leads the rankings after this next match.
Anyone any ideas who it could be??????

Would be nice to see a Brit do it, i think after the Worlds my mooney has to be on Daryl (although after realising that Daryl is losing a lot of points from last years event my money has changed to Mark Grey)

Gray, Majid and Peach are all in the running but it ain´t gonna be easy!!
Stepanov, Alcaide and Souquet are also front runners.

its going to go down to the wire. it would be good to see Mark Gray win it from the Brits, as it looked as though he didnt have a sniff before Switzerland

It looks like a 7 horse race with a couple more slim outsiders if any of those 7 fail to reach the qtr-finals.

The 7 in contention (with pts diff to nearest challenger):-
Stepanov (+25)
Gray (+60)
Majid (+20)
Alcaide (+25)
Souquet (+5)
Peach (+75)
Vassalos (+25)

The 4 others who have slim chance if those 7 fail to reach the qtrs are:-
Van Den Berg (level with Foldes)
Foldes (+15)
Reimering (+15)
Engert

So Stepanov has a slight advantage over Gray going into the last event with Majid close behind, although to make up the difference in points, they must reach at least the last 16 to have a glimmer.

Would you make all that correct Malaguista?

With Mark Gray only needing 260 points to be level with Stephanov, as he has missed two of the 7 tournaments listed, so he would have no scores deducted as it is the best 6 of 7 results from what i gather, i think my money would have to be on him.

Yes that is a pretty good analysis, Devil but I look at it from a different angle to you
Its too close to call but this is how the front runners stand at the moment before playing Malaga.
I have deducted the points from Malaga 2006 and have not yet deducted the worst score that each player has

STEPANOV Konstantin    2135
MAJID Imran    2035
ALCAIDE David    2030
SOUQUET Ralf    1990
PEACH Daryl    1985
VAN DEN BERG Nick    1900
REIMERING Christian    1885
GRAY Mark                    1875
FOLDES Vilmos    1865
ENGERT Thomas    1855
FEIJEN Niels    1845
ORTMANN Oliver    1775
TRAJDOS Wojciech    1730
TSCHUDI Marco    1725
MURATORE Bruno    1710
VASSALOS John    1690
FAZANES Antonio    1680
HYBLER Roman    1665
FULCHER Jonni    1655
KAPLAN Thomasz    1615

This really is too complicated to predict because anything can happen and probably will.
Gray has to be fancied because his lowest score is 0 therefore whatever he scores in Spain will be added to the 1875 points that he already has with no deductions.

By the way, I have just had lunch on the terrace of the Hotel Torrequebrada overlooking the sea and with the sun beaming down, hope it continues.
Eat your hearts out those of you that are not coming!!!!!

Ooops! That's hilarious... When I made the poll, I naturally took the top eight provisionally ranked players, but it seems like Mark could be the favourite to take it, and he's not even an option on the poll!!!

These polls slurp!

Yes Peter, I have taken the last 6 events points and deducted the lowest score and this is why Mark Gray is just behind Stepanov by 25pts.

It is very hard to predict but anyone from the top 11 could be No1 depending on other results going their way but the ones listed above (top 7) are firm favs.

If Stepanov fails to reach the last 32 then it's wide open for the chasing pack.

I actually think Mark grey must be favourite after his performace in the last eurotour event, and the fact he is 12th place with only 5 tournaments played. My money is definatly on him

I think there's going to be a record turn-out for this event, does anyone know the precise number of UK entries?

See the new thread opening up in a minute, all the info on the Malaga eurotour will be on that, updated as it happens (up until around 5pm, then again at about 10pm)
