Hi all, I am keen to help the GB9 and support raising the £1000 for the Macmillan Cancer Trust Fund, below is my aim and details.....Please support me, this is a worthy charity, I just wanted to do my bit for someone no longer with us!!........ Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am going to take my Concept 2 Rower to Rileys and do something I have never done before......row 30,000 metres within 5 hours .....I've not rowed more then 5000 in a day before so this is going to be tough, for anyone who uses this rower they will know it's not stroll in the park!! Dig deep please as this is a GREAT charity and I want to do my bit........Paul Medati was a wonderful human being and he and his family deserve this from me!! Below is taken from the GB9 web site with kind permission from Lee Rigby (Tour Director). Fond memories will doubtless be rekindled as the GB 9 Ball Tour returns to the Barceló Hotel in Daventry next month for the third annual Paul Medati Trophy. As many people throughout various codes of billiard sport will already know, Paul lost his fight against lung cancer in 2008 at the age of 65, very shortly after the inaugural GB9 season had come to a close. During his career as a snooker player throughout the 80s and early 90s, as well as his briefer stint within American pool, his was an infectious and warm character which has been missed by countless players and fans alike, and naturally the decision to rename a GB9 tournament in his honour was well received back in 2009. Mark ‘Granite’ Gray will be in attendance trying to defend the title he won last April in Blackpool, amongst a strong field of 144 players each hoping to steal the crown off of him, all of whom will ensure this year’s event will be more fiercely contested than ever. Cherill Medati, Paul’s widow, was proud to give her endorsement to the competition once again. Their son, John, said "I'm very much looking forward to attending the event named in honour of my dad and helping GB9 and its players raise funds for a very worthy cause in Macmillan Cancer Support." GB9 is proud to announce that world famous female referee Michaela Tabb will be making an appearance in Daventry. In a first for the tour, Tabb will referee alongside current referees Mel Harley, Phil Turner and player/referee Martyn Royce to add a special touch to proceedings for what will surely be another emotional competition. This event is happening on the 26th May from 5pm, not sure if Sky are covering this live Please dig deep and donate now. http://www.justgiving.com/philip-morgan0[ This message was edited by: phil9ball on 2011-05-13 07:12 ]

Thanks in advance kind pool community.

This is great Phil and I hope lots of our tour players get behind your efforts and sponsor you. It really is a very worthy cause and I'm sure it will help us reach our target of raising £1000 in Paul's memory.
We need more like you mate.
Come on guys and get behind Phil because this is going to be a tough 5 hours for him!

Cheers.....it's rolling along already, I've spoken to Macmillan and they are sending balloons, vest tops, and other bits to display. I just need donations now. Please get involved, dont think that others will donate as that tends to lead to small amounts, every little helps!!

Very kind thank you! I know, it's really tough to keep going but I will do this, the only issue is what condition I'll be in when I finish.

Cheers Mr Dixon!
I've just done 30 minutes and 6000 metres, I have a feeling I could do up to 90 minutes and possibly do 18,000 in one go.......it's a nice target as it then only leaves me 12,000 to do in the next 3.5 hours......I reckon I could do it in about 3.5 hours total......I'm a bit concerned as I'm now thinking about making it just over 41,000 metres to make it a marathon length, somebody talk me out of that please!!!!
