Hi all
got a young kid (13) in our pool hall who is nuts about american pool, but cant afford the gear. He definately has potential, so Paul and i have started him off with a cue, and if any of you has anything spare you'd like to donate (bag etc), im sure he'd be chuffed to bits.
Thanks
Tone

ps, well make sure its all kept in good order and when the time comes for him to get his own (he's just took on a pt job at the club cleaning balls etc) we'll put the set back up for the next nomination.
cheers all.

Nice one BigTone I only have a playing cue at the moment, but I do have a suggestion that may help Big Dave Or Andy, how about printing up some gift vouchers for the Pro Shop? I'm thinking that if it were possible for members to donate a fiver each or whatever towards Pro Shop gift vouchers for the kid, and perhaps Big Dave or Andy could make up a starter pack for the kid The starter pack could be as simple as;- - Starter Playing Cues - Starter J/B - Basic 2x2 case - Box of 12 Masters Chalk - Cue Towel I don't know if this is of any help or not, but it's an idea that came to me and I thought it would be worth mentioning Willie

I've got a cheap, but good, jump cue going spare (which Coton turned his nose up at!!) - if you remind me before we are next due to bump into each other Tone and he still needs one he can have it. Won't be at next GB9 though so not sure when that will be?

If Big Dave can get the vouchers ready for the next GB9 i am sure it would be great for the shop and for Tone, i will have a fiver to kick things off......

I'll have to wait untill next weekend before I can send any bankroll, but if there can be a paypal account set up to accept the donations for the gift vouchers, that would be golden and I'll happily donate a fiver also The way I see it is, in order for the sport of American Pool to grow and to improve, we need to help create oppertunities for the younger players, but at the same time, there aren't many young players that are lucky enough to have a family that has got lots of money to spare and so, I think that it up to our generations to help give the younger players a good and fair chance in life Willie

I'm discussing the possibility of vouchers with Andy now... He's mentioned the desire for vouchers before, so hopefully it'll be something we can organise, fingers crossed! [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2009-08-27 18:40 ]

Nice one BigDave I'll tell you what... If you guys can order the make up a starter pack together like for the kid, like the 1 I had mentioned above, I'll donate £20 towards it next weekend, when I can get some more bankroll sorted out I would like to think that more pool players could happily donate a fiver or something towards the starter pack also Maybe The Pro Shop could donate one of the starter cues for the pack as a head start? Again, it's just an idea and thought it would be worth mentioning Willie
