On another UK pool website, which doesn't do much coverage of amercian pool a poster asked about 9 ball in london... So I told him about GB9 whilst also respecting the administrators rules by not posting a link to our site. Following that my post is edited by the administrator, leaving instead an abusive post that is very disrespectiful to people of a certain sexual persuasion and I am banned with the reason 'relentless advertising' So if you mention a pool tour or a pool competition on this website dedicated to the game of pool you are in breach of their rules And to make things worse they will ridicule you publicy and ban you thereby stopping you from responding to the ridicule. I have to admit it, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm now older and wise enough to laugh it off, it would probably make my blood boil. Has anyone else had any similar problems with a particular UK pool site or is it just me?

Yeah I've had problems with them before after Imentioned the fact that Earl Strickland was going to be playing in the UK. I was accused of being a promoter for the event etc etc....
It all turned into a slanging match as I got pretty annoyed about it.
A couple of weeks later I happened to go to their offices and a certain 'professor' couldn't have been nicer - lol
I think they just do it to try to spice up their forums!!

i think everyone one there has had a run in with him at some point
just a shame so many people use the site and not any others which are run in a much fairer manner ie this one and the blackball site

I don't even see what problem there would be if you had posted a link to the GB9 site - the guy obviously is interested in 9 ball!

Just found the site you were referring to and read the forum. If it had been me I would not have stood for the post professor put. I can't ever see BigDave responding that way on this site. He has the manners and decency to explain why a post would be removed and not have to resort to expletives and homophobic comments. And besides I cannot see how you were doing anything wrong. I understand that advertising a product or service would be off limits, but advertising a "non rival" pool site by mentioning it's name is completely different. I'm sure there are many 8ball players who also play 9 ball and vice versa.

The man is a disgrace - a typical keyboard warrior who apparently is nice as pie face to face.
I made him look a complete fool on his own site - not by being abusive or anything like that. Just by picking him up on his points and basically being smarter than he was.
A couple of regulars responded with stuff like "That shut you up Prof" etc etc. It left him, for once, speechless.
The result? The whole thread (some 8 pages) mysteriously evaporated into thin air and I was banned for life without explanation!
The man is a complete fool. I would love him to come up North and spout some of his stuff...

You seriously cannot work with the guy - we are looking at offering live PPV of the McCarthy vs Shaw match - 8-ball am I not mistaken?
I even joined the site and sent him an email directly about what I wanted to do even after having read their policy and he told me that posting such a thing was against the rules - even though I imagine a few people would be interested in this match.
Can you not have him for slander Riggers, you may have no hair but that doesn't make you a homo!

I reckon a boxing match similiar to King and Hann is on the cards. I'll step into the ring with this gimpoid that calls himself prof pool, as long as it's anything goes, I honestly can't stand gimps like this. No problarmo, a guaranteed win against such foppishness as Prof Pool. [ This message was edited by: Pitster on 2008-04-18 00:10 ]

the funny thing is on another thread (about rileys (page 5)) he posts read bit in bold On 2008-04-17 10:54 , ProfessorPool Wrote:!!! QUOTE !!!
95% or more of most pub pool league players have no interest whatsoever in playing pool "outside" the league so why change things to suit them?
People wanting to/needing to know world rules can learn them eay enough. And all this "you ahve to play them blah blah blah is complete bollocks.
Personally, speaking, I can play 8 ball (old EPA, BAPTO, Blackball, World rules, Jersey rules, old Derby rules (no snooker), 9 ball, US 8 ball, snooker, one pocket, billiards, bar billiards, US 14-1. uk 14-1. rotation, killer, stink and crash plus, probably, a few others. I have no trouble playing the different games and adjusting to the different tactics.
Given a choice and playing in a winner stays on pub environment, I would choose old EPA rules with a modified break rule. Given a choice of cue sport, I would "choose" to play 9 ball but you don;t see them in pubs so that's out.
Fundamentally world rules are poor rules for the pub game, whcih is why they have never been popular and why the EPA never insisted on their use - they knew they would never get away with it.
Also, the odd few times that world rules have been played in leagues in woking on a thursday night. As soon as the match is over, guess what? The players and the pub reverts to old EPA.
Yes - quality set of rules is world rules..
