Hi My name's Graeme and I'm from New Zealand. I've worked in the timber industry all my life, and am a furniture maker and stair manufacturer. I am an avid 8ball fan and play the game at top level here in New Zealand. Over the last 6-7years I have turned my hand to making the odd poolcue. I made them from some of New Zealands native trees. I made one from a timber called rewarewa or the common name native honeysuckle. I found that this timber transferred force better to the white ball and put it down to the coiled nature of the timbers fibres, that are twisted as in a vine. From there I decided to look for other timbers with similar grain patterns, so impressed was I with the force transfer properties. I found another timber of the same family of trees (proteaceas) called silky oak. Having managed to make a cue from this timber I took it to a tournament to play with it the day I finished it. The first shot was astounding. The crack of the balls left my ears ringing and three balls fair rocketed into the holes. My teammates were shocked and super impressed. Speaking to a scientifically minded friend of mine about the ordeal, he decided to go to the library and find out more about the scientific reasoning behind the superior force transfer and elastic properties of the timbers I was using for these cues. What he found is that the timbers have what they term a high modulous of elasticity ie longitudinal stiffness in the end grain of the timber. He came back and asked me more about how I had constructed them as the manuals all said that they don't turn on a lathe easily. When I told him that I hadn't turned them on a lathe he said to me "Then you have a product my boy". Since then we have sent our shafts to be tested in the Philippines, USA, and have just sent some to be tested in Surrey England. All the feed back from the testing has been positive thus far and we are awaiting comments from Surrey on the playability of the cues I sent for testing. Regards Wiz. Graeme.

Dave, yes that's what we're getting known internationally for. Our shafts have impressed some of the best players in the Philippines, leading one player to say that our silky oak shafts are" the nuts." One world reknown cue maker in the Philippines said to keep em coming.

Tip size on the above rewarewa shaft can go as small as 6mm.

All the best, Big Dave.
Honestly Dave that's as close to the colour as you'll get. Those high resolution shots cost a me a bl--dy fortune. But when I do something I dont cut corners.

If they want the cue personalized with silver or brass nameplates then yes.Hand spliced Yes. The cues I sent to Surrey were only sent as testers, but I told buffalo to sell them. As originals they'll have value as collectors items and my prices stand, as I believe these cues will be collecters items because of their originality.
