Other than the obvious in designs the main difference is that predator are using a 4 piece core on the new 5K cues and have also replaced some parts that used to be wood with a phenolic material the theorey is that this will make for a more solid hit and a better feel when striking the ball.

I believe this idea is also used and is the difference in the butts on the BK and BK2

If you have the funds i reckon the 5K8 is perhaps the most stunning predator i have ever seen........and i have seen them all LOL!!!

Dave

you would need to be some serious player to make it worth while up grading from a 4k to a 5k.... either that or loaded.... not sure its worth it to be honest

Predator make a decent cue but it's their shafts which make them so good, you can pretty much put any butt with a predator shaft and get the same quality of hit, when you pay for the fancier designs you are just wasting you money imo, one the plain jane preds hit just as good as the fancy one and you aren't going to get much more when/if you sell second-hand. I made the same mistake last year when i bought the Pred SE-9 which imo is the best looking pred design made, if i were you i would just put a pred shaft on a normal butt.
Of course the butt can have some difference but with production cues the difference is minimal, predator would try to make it sound like they have come up with some magical new butt which will transform your game, but after playing with a 4K-1 and a SE-9(with the new'4 piece core') there is no or minimal differnce between them.

All just my opinion of course.

thanks everyone for your help and comments. i'm not loaded but am trying to play fairly seriously. was a good standard snooker player but fancied a change, much like many of you. unfortunately both my mum and brother have passed away in the last 4 months and that makes you realise that if you want to do something you should just go for it. great site by the way, everyone's very helpful and knowledgeable.     alan

I've seen a few 314^2 weighed at 4oz+. I think the first gen 314 tends to be i bit lighter, but i'm no expert.
