Hi Guys,
This is a bit of a wildcard but does anyone know of a pool club in Lisbon, Portugal ? I have been searching the web and have not found any and on the off chance I wondered if any local guys may look at this site who could give me some advice.
Thanks in advance Simmo

Wow... That was a real tough one Simmo! I'm not going to tell you how long this took, messing around with translation software and everything, however, after my exhausting (if not exhaustive) research I feel I can recommend this place: Snooker Aguia ClubLisboa São José Travessa Salitre 1 Lisboa - 1250-205 Tel:213 470 502 Fax: 213 476 763 mail@snookeraguiaclub.comhttp://www.snookeraguiaclub.com/They have a table especially for gambling with a "winner-stays-on" format!

I aim to please mate, and although it did take a while to track it down, it was quite satisfying to eventually hit the jackpot.
Lisbon (and Portugal in general) has a reasonable pool scene - only one player at the current European Championships and he's from Porto...
Name Joao Silva Nickname - Club Clube Bilhar da Maia Residence Oporto, Portugal Date of Birth 14-03-1985 Playing Cue Predator Break Cue - Cons. runs 8-ball 6 Cons. runs 9-ball 7 Highest Run 14/1 0 Palmares 1x NATIONAL CHAMPION / ANPP 2002/2003 3º place PORTUGAL CUP 2004 1x runner up NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS 2x REGIONAL CHAMPION TEAMS 2x REGIONAL CHAMPION BLACK BALL EUROPEAN CHAMPION TEAMS gold medal 2004 HOLLAND BLACK BALL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS bronze medal 2005 ITALY
...But Lisbon does appear to have a decent league running with around 12 clubs/bars attending.
It's always tough finding good clubs abroad.
Quite often they're not even in the phone book, let alone having a web presence.
What I generally do when I arrive in a foreign country is get the phone book from reception and rip out/photocopy the pool/billiard club page. Then I book a taxi and visit every club, asking at every club if there are any other clubs (that way you find out about any clubs that aren't listed).
This technique has enabled me to find some real beauties in Paris and Geneva, and some real dives in the Frankfurt red light district (but they did have a couple of 3 Cushion Billiard tables, so all was not wasted). It didn't help at all when I was working in Fort Lauderdale - I couldn't find a decent pool club or billiard shop anywhere (only duff ones!).
I like collecting anything with pool based graphics on it, like pool themed bar or food menus, or anything pool related in a foreign language, but ideally you'd hide me in your suitcase and take me with you.
Work hard while you're out there Dave, but remember you're only young once, so make sure you play hard while you're out there too.
Good luck and play well.
All the best, Big Dave.
