Hi everyone, I dont usually post on this website but felt to do so in light of the situation. To my disgust some people are saying that i cheated in the final of the recent GB9 event. It is the 3 point rule which is making myself and many other players seem like cheats. Before this rule was implemented there was never really any question about dishonesty in a game of pool. I have seen Ralph Souquet, Neils Feijen together with many other players break dry on the Euro Tour and carry on shooting.Should they be called 'cheats' !! It is this rule which is now giving people an avenue to undermine players and basically insult them by calling them cheats. I have been No 1 in the UK for many years, not just recently and i have always been an ambassador for the sport in our country and never have i been known to cheat in the history of my carrer. You can ask all the tournament oganisers i have worked with from Doug Gordon to Gre Leenders to Luke Riches, i have always been very professional at tournaments. The fact is that players dont always realise when they have done a dry break, i am sure it has happened to alot of you. Your opponent may not realise aswell. Does this mean the breaker should be labelled as a cheat.
The main reasons why this is a bad rule are the following: 1) Players sometimes are too focused and concentrating alot on the match so could miss a dry break. 2) Players naturally walk back to they're seats to transfer break cue to playing que thus having the're back to the table causing them to miss a dry break. 3)Players opponents maybe neglegant and miss a dry break. Not the shooters fault if he and the opponent doesnt realise. 4) It is a new rule and players simply may not be used to it thus not concentrating on the table after breaking. 5) The player and opponent may have different veiws on wether it was a dry break or not causing controversy.
There are more negatives about this rule and unless it is schooled properly or refereed there will always be controversy in matches.Thats why myself and alot of other players think it should be abolished. We actually had a meeting about this rule at the last Euro Tour event and a lot of the top players were dissapointed with this rule. I can understand that players maybe upset with me winning the last rack against Scott in the final when i broke dry at 10-10 but the only thought that occurred to me at the time was to run out and win the match. I was under tremendous pressure and had come back from a 10-5 defecit the only thing on my mind was to run out the rack. It should be upto the opponent to call a dry break because breakers dont always realise due to reasons that i have pointed out above. To be called a cheat was a bit harsh especially after winning 4 consecutive events, i thought i would get a bit more credit. I hope u can see now why it is a bad rule and players shouldnt be labelled as cheats if they dont realise they have done a dry break. A few players such as Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes, seemed very upset about the situation in the final according to theyre posts on pro9 and i called them straight away to clear things up after lengthy conversations they also understand my veiws and how the rule will cause future problems. I have tried to call Daryl but he doesnt answer, it seems that he always gets the hump with me whenever i beat him, its always been the same since day1. Guess there is a bit of rivalry there. As far as young Phil is concerned who made some remarks that were below the belt, I hope you can see why some players may miss a dry break and you shouldnt be jumping the gun an calling players cheats, it could happen to yourself and by the way i have always set good examples to young budding poolplayers like yourself.Without me and some other players the UK wouldnt even be on the map for 9Ball pool, i have always been on the forefront and have done alot for the sport in this country. To end my post i would like to thanks Lee and Shir again i know you both are under tremendous pressure with the tour and it is a lot harder than you anticipated but you are on a learning curve and can only get better. There is a small minority that dont appreciate what you do for the tour but beleive me the majority very much think that you are doing a wonderful job and it is the best thing thats ever happened to UK pool. Roll on GB9 or should i say GBJIM LOL!!! . Oh one last thing i would like to hear Lee Rigbys veiws on the 3 point rule because we all think it should be abolished.See you all in Manchester.
May the rolls be with you.....................The Maharaja

bravo- well put, totally agree sometimes you can be so engrossed in the game it is possible not to notice certain things, like lee said not enuff cash in the pot to have refs just yet ,like imran says your opponent acts has a ref in most cases, end of the day 4 wins is quite remarkable well done on that front, once the 3 point rule gets sorted out am sure we can all move on and keep promoting the sport throughout the world of 9ball,thr tour speaks volumes for pool in the uk well done shir and lee ,also big dave pro-9 for brilliant coverage also cue-sport tv,dont lets tarnish ourselfs by pulling each other to bits, the uk has got some of the worlds most talented 9ball players on this tour stick together and go forward one day you will see the rewards.

well said but i think yeh maybe you can miss the odd dry break but i think most players know when they have had a dry break but carry on because they are getting away with it and some even admitting it but now its in the open maybe the players will be more aware now and watch the break with eagle eyes lol and lee & shir are doing a exellent job and deserves all the credit they get and big dave does a exellent job running this site keeep up the good work ,

does say Majid is known for his pool hall hustling and bad sportsmanship in the Mosconi up when he 'sharked' US team member Corry Deuel. Deuel later called Majid a cheater on live television. personally i have never seen him shark anyone but i could say i have seen other well known players at it...... ----------------- [ This message was edited by: paddy147 on 2008-07-17 00:43 ]
