Good Morning everyone, hope you are all well
Im in Chennai (south India) for a month teaching and wondered if anyone knows if there is anything which remotely resembles a pool table in the vacinity.
I dont want to have withdrawl symptoms and to make matters worse I was flicking through the channels on the hotel TV last night and found 'star sports', which was showing the Guiness 2007 pool tour.
It was horrible, that was really like dangling the carrot
Big Dave, could I summon your geographical powers to save my sanity?

They all look like fun places to play - I'll see if I get find a place to get some action, but it all seems to be snooker... And in Mumbai or Delhi.

Chris I was there in 2000... Can remember playing in a place there where only 'white' people where allowed to play.... very posh, 10 guilder cent an hour at that time... leather sofa's, girls running around doing everything for you... even massaging you while your waiting for a shot...
but that was a good first time to play pool...couldn't play...still can't... but good experience... I'll try to contact one of my friends that used to live there to ask him....
I'll let you know...

Must be nice to be in a area with a booming economy after living in the abstract poverty of South Shields

Its quite strange actually. They take us un a car from the holtel to the site where im working and some of the poverty is quite full on. We're lucky in the UK as we dont see this.
As for the pool halls, Im going to try and see some tomorrow and will send the pics to you dave for you to upload.

I can relate to that having traveled a lot of asia, its heart breaking to see the devistation and poverty caused by the troubles in places like cambodia where its common to see kids missing limbs due to left over landmines.

yeah I know. Theres a real difference in classes here. Basically youv'e got money or you havent.
There isnt a great sewage system too so theres a lovely smell when you go out for a stroll.
Plus..................I experienced a tuc tuc! For those of you that dont know what a tuc tuc is, its a three wheeled taxi and the driver is a full on psycho. They dart in and out of traffic and you really think this is your last journey. Plus...no one obeys the traffic rules, its just an absolute free for all and im amazed I dont see more scrapes and bumps.
But the best thing is the driver charges you 100 rupees to go about 3 miles, which is about 1.30. Happy days

Just came back from 'breakpoint', which is about 10 mins from hotel.
Firstly, no nine ball tables, they were all 8 ball (spots and stripes) and no air con. So that was a good start.
Plus, they wouldnt let me take any pictures but to be honest, not worth a photo anyway. Gonna try a few more but I really dont think Im going to come across american pool tables.
Ill keep you's updated as to what I can find.
Shir......cant wait to find the one where I get massages between shots. Some definate photos there!!!
