I think money matches are an integral part of pool, I can understand where the dazzler is coming from but i think for many players it is a chance to earn income from the game as there isnt enough to be won purely from prize money.
For other players as well money matches gives players the chance to replicate the pressures and tension of tournament play within a club/practice environment. When you practice if you dont play for money there is absolutely no pressure on and in many respects the practice is pointless. In tournament play there is a certain amount of pressure, nerves and andreniline to deal with that can only be replicated in practice when something is put on the line e.g. money.
Also Raj mentioned Bustamante as the greatest breaker in the world and i agree with him, but wasnt Buste using the softest of soft breaks in the Worlds this year?? Like BigDave said you need to adapt to the conditions and equipment.

Dazzler mentioned Tony D playing for money. I asked him why he didn't play a money match when Daz played Tommy. Tony said he 'didn't need to' I got the impression he wasn't interested in money matches in the slightest. He has won £1,000,000 from snooker in his career. And now he's doing well with his pool, some big wins including the 10 ball championship. Back to Imran and Raj. Why would they play, when they are best mates? Not sure about everyone else, but would you fancy taking £5,000 off your mate and then saying, 'Oh I'll get these beers in!' Yeah mate, no worries, it's ONLY money!! It will never happen but it's great fun talking about it!! [ This message was edited by: expertfluke on 2008-06-09 15:12 ]

I agree with Raj on one thing which is that the cut break is something that should be taken out of the american game. It's an easy enough game as it is and it's being made easier. However, who else on here thinks that Raj comes across very big headed and full of himself in that interview? I don't know him personally so i can't comment but if i was to judge him from that interview alone, then he's very big headed and i'd say it's just a case of sour grapes. He's just dissed every aspect of Imran's game and has given absolutely no credit to him whatsoever for what he's achieved. Tapped tables or not, 3 on the trot is a great achievement. ----------------- Regards

Ofcourse its sour grapes noone has mentioned the fact that Imran was 6-0 down in the recent final against Raj.Thats a massive hill to climb alternate break. No disrespect to Rajs game but if your 6-0 up and your oponent wins alternate break you must have done something very wrong. He doesnt do anything better than Imran in my opinion and in most peoples opinion except blow his trumpet. Imran has always dominated in England together with Daryl and they are a class above everyone else in the UK theyre results prove it.

4-5 years ago I posted on this very forum that the game of 9 ball is turning into a joke and that a 10th ball should be added to make it harder for the breaker to sink a ball and I was shot down in flames for even thinking of such an idea!!!
Diamondo will vouch for this.

Loud and clear pal, I remember it well. Although due to the fact that I break like a small, weak child, the Tour is called GB9 and not GB10 lolololol!!!!!!

I think the cloth has changed the game completley.
Jim Rempe said in an interview that when they agreed to start using Simonis 860 cloth which was intended for Billiards and not Pool it changed the game overnight. Back in the 70's when they played on napped cloth he said you had to have a powerful stroke to move the cueball 3 rails. You don't really need to hit the ball hard nowadays

1. daryl peach(world champion) 2. darren Appleton (5th US Open 3. Karl Boyes (3rd W.P.C) 4. Raj Hundal (World Masters) 5. Steve Knight (W.P.League).....
if i missed anything feel free to let me know.....
no. 2 and no. 3??? are you mental?? you honestly think the 2nd and 3rd greatest achievements by any english player in pool are 2 guys NOT winning tournaments???
seriously, i know they're your mates and all that but you're just being silly....
you got take into consideration eric
raj won world masters with 16 players and got $20,000 steve knight won world pool league with 7 players maybe got $20,000 tops
karl finished 3rd in world championship first attempt only been playing a year at the time and got $20,000
someone said to me 3rd in worlds or world masters champion id prob just go for world masters only because its a title, but as a achievment they all have arguements.
us open probably the strongest field event in the world with 400ish entries on proper pool equipment getting 5th at the time i was dissapointed but looking back 2006 new to the game ,i didnt do bad!
in my opinion its tougher to get in top 8 in us open and top 4 in world championship than it is to win world masters or world pool league
3 reason got to play more matches and the fields are tougher 06 us open tight bags and it was break box no tapped tables.
so am just saying as achievement there not much in it, slightly favour micks view.
but to me its all about winning so id pick the titles esp world masters. apps it was str0ker what put that matey not me to get 5th place in us open is a great achievement with the strength of the field, that stroker kid pal hes not well 2 sugars ----------------- beware dangerous player on his way

The lag on those tables would more than likely go 4 rails on the Eurotour. It's an interesting transition to attempt.
