With 40 runners pay outs should be: (if we don't have a plate on the Sunday) 1st: £700 2nd: £350 3rd: £175 5th: £75

Ok thats cool, it should be a good day....... If any people are staying over as they have already booked hotels and want a few games on the sunday i'm only in leeds so might be able to oblige if there is no sunday plate. I might be able to persuade "The Miles Hill Kid" to play too. Just let me know on Saturday....... ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2008-06-19 13:37 ]

Thanks Dave. Despite a low turn out I'm sure everyone will agree it really was a very enjoyable day and on behalf of me, Shir, George and his staff I want to thank everyone who supported the event, especially those who travelled long distance. Also many congratulations to Phil Burford on an impressive win. This was even more impressive when you get to know it was on one of the tightest tables in the game and he beat someone many people believe to be one of the UK's best cueists. We really are very lucky in Barnsley to play in a club where the staff do so much to luck after their customers and keep the club so nice and welcoming all the time. Obviously we visit many clubs, some great and some not ran so well but IMO (and I'm trying not to be biased) we have the best club manager and best staff I ever come across in a UK pool club. I guess that's why I was particularly bemused, surprised and saddened at the low turn out. I was also a little annoyed when people again put their names down for a tournament and made no attempt to advise their non-attendance, causing Shir to have to rework the draw just minutes after it was done. To those who did attend we really were spoiled as usual. The club had tables recovered especially for this event, breakfast bought in and offered to players at a ridiculous £2 for a bacon buttie and a cup of tea and to add to that they chucked £250 CASH into the prize fund! Then add the fact we had TV Pro Cup Balls on all tables that the tournament was run by a brilliant tournament director and I'm just atonished we had only 32 runners. Either we are doing something wrong, or the UK players are not that bothered about these open events anymore. I'm just not sure but despite really enjoying the day I can't help but reflect back on it with huge disappointment about the turn out. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2008-06-22 18:19 ]
