of course i dont know the ins and outs...... however here goes with my opinion.......

the usa team that as been selected is the the team 90% of the playing world would have chosen... svb...earl...archer.....rodders...corey.... to me its not rocket science at all, its an obvious team pick...they play on tough conditions all the time i believe, therefore they get a consistent team year after year cos the same players are the best players!...now ok earl isnt the player is was but he hasnt been for a while.however usually he performs well at the mosconi cup....(colin montgomerie is not the player he was but put in the ryder cup and he is a world beater)....

however europe as such as strange selection process... mainly based on blokes running around playing 6ball on pockets were you could get a football to rattle in the jaws, i mean if you get beat regular then you have to assess what is going wrong!.... we seem to think that europe and indeed the uk is taking over the world but and its a big but the conditions are playing right into our hands....

break.....dont need one!
safety games.... mediocre will do!
kicking ability.....forget it!
potting ability......yes!
good cue action....yes!

the european team can never be consistent with regards to clientel because the conditions allow for there to be a different top8 at every given time.... ralf souquet, thorten, to name just two must be thinking whats this all about.. ive played 10-20yrs travel around the world and learned my trade to turn up at my own tour(eurotour) watch people play 6ball and keep running out with only 30-40% of any kinda a 9ball game needed.....

i would imagine some of our team dont know whtas hit them with this format and criteria how could they when they havnt earned there spot under these conditions.....

e.g a golfer plays a par 3 course everyday for 6mths under par..... phone call.....your

I totally agree Michael, great post pal!!

Nobody has really mentioned it in this forum yet but how good is Shane Van Boening. I heard a lot about him & what he's achieved thus far in his career but i had never seen him play until last night & he was by far the best player from both set of teams. Some of his potting was ridiculous & he looked sooo confident & calm considering it was his first Mosconi cup appearance.

I think he'll win the world championship in the next 3 years if he keeps his form going.

i backed usa when seen team anyway not knowing conditions! when i knew the conditions of play i lumped on!! usa played terrible yesterday but you could see the diff in class and they will get better..i just dont see europe wether it was 3-2 or 4-1 doesnt make a difference !

its our weakest team ever imo in past 10 years obviously fiirst few years of mosconi both teams were poor with snooker players and woman etc ! but we always had decent team
past 7-8 years!

the games too easy in europe ,have played money games and big events in usa and philippines! europe on tapped tables big bags can compete ! some of these players would struggle on diamonds and non tapped tables and small bags!

totally agree lol

shows what a crazy game it is!!

our boys played good

america awefull ..

like i said this prob best american team ever and prob weakest europe team ever on paper but its not won on paper

i remember one year english 8ball championships team england had the dream team one year ,mick hill, chris melling, myself, phil harriosn, jason twist, lee kendal, gaz potts, carl morris, karl boyes, keith brewer.. but we lost to wales who on paper shouldnt have been on same table!! team play u just never know what might happen...
but our boys been underdogs are showing great heart and are inspired its great to watch lets hope they can keep it going!

I would like to see the Mosconi idea expanded into a World Cup (a proper one not a glorified doubles tournament like the World Cup of Pool).

I agree with the comments on the ease of playing, but ultimately that earns you money guys because the top players still win, but more worse players join up cos we think they have a fighting chance, and being able to run the balls makes it fun to play and try to learn.

They do say you need to be nuts to play 9-Ball!

The commentators made me laugh saying it was a stroke of brilliance from non playing captain putting drago on both singles.

bull !!!

sad to say this but

a : he has to play 2 games cos hes the big name. the only player most sky sports subscribers would know.
b : non of other players wanted to play doubles with him.

there was no other choice but for him to play both singles

imo....
