Good point Daz im sure the players in qualifier wouldnt mined paying an extra £10. IF gb9 would top it up with £80 then could pay losing semis £100 and runner up £200. At least it would be something for players who hacked away all day.

ok Andy if you want to organise taking the extra £10 on the day off the players then that's fine. Of course all players would have to be in agreement.
Now anybody who wants to enter had better get their applications in because at this rate the event is going to be cancelled anyway!

No problem Andy i would be prepared to collect extra £10 off the players to be able to pay the runner up and losing semis. It would be optional so if a player didnt want to pay it and reached the semi or final the money would go to the other 2 players. As i said before i really do value the work that you and the team put in.

let me have my say as i just read everything. the qualifyers in every country pay top 4 they also play longer races and winner breaks. the total cost lets say is 1500 for all expences in vegas. that leaves 1380 matchroom fees taken off leaves more than a few hundred quid. im not saying people are making money but i personally thought it was scandless. good way to lose money if u ask me.

Chris, you obviously haven't read everything properly on this thread. I don't how the other countries have run their qualifiers but we have other costs associated with staying an extra day in the hotel venue etc. Things are not as black and white as you are trying to make out.
Personally I think I would be happier if we cancel this event anyway and I can get home a day earlier and not have the hassle.

Agree with you Andy. I did the maths and most we could make even if we ditched the ref and had a minimum of people staying to help with the take down and we would have less than £200 profit after paying £400 to last 4 on top of all other costs. Pointless putting ourselves through all that extra hassle just to earn that amount for the tour. Let's get back home and get some rest and put it down to experience. Someone else can run them in future from start to finish and we'll have a much needed rest. Shame not to have an extra UK player in the event but am sure some of those people posting on here will be happy to run it instead. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2010-03-18 15:03 ]

A lot of people on here seem to get very defensive as soon as someone makes a suggestion, they automatically think we're criticising the tour itself which isn't correct at all. The lads have done a great job with it thus far and I have no doubt it'll get bigger and better thanks to their hard work.
Like andy said, it's easy for the pros to defend the WPM qualifier as they're already in it and rightly so and they earn quite abit from the tour too. Think of the lesser players too boys, I know it's our choice to play in it but at least make it appealing to us mere mortals.

This is crazy... utter madness? lol I understand people thinking the way they do but HATE the way they choose a pro9 forum as a way to let the world know something when they dont have the facts.... All of any of these kind of questions should IMO be addressed directly to GB9 committee in private, not on a public forum where people can come on and laugh at all this nonsense - if its too expensive, dont play - £10 option is great idea for the players that want to do it, i would have... defo The reaso i aint playing is cos its blackpool, would prob need another 2 nights as finishing late on Monday would a drive through the night home - but aint gonna moan about it on here, no point - thats just my bad luck and the way it is........accpet it. lastly, are people really that stupid to think that GB9 could run an event like that in Buxton and not try to recoup some costs for the tour? They absoloutley 100% have to for the tour to survive and grow, this first season is so important for the tour. The players WILL spend more money this year for no extra in prize money, but thats the way it has to be early on. as the tour grows im sure the prize structure will change accordingly..... and for WPM qualifiers next year, same (Not that GB9 would or should run any more after what people are saying) Ossie - regardless of the costs (and trust me, im feeling the pinch also!) i cannot believe my farmer giles eyes when i read some of this...... GB9 - Great start!, Great Job! Thanks immensly for taking on the 2 WPM spots, well done to Boyzi for qualifying and good luck to the runners in blackpool...... goin to bed..ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz [ This message was edited by: SHOTGUN on 2010-03-19 00:09 ]

Just like to say although I don't play on the tour that I agree with the Shotgun person ( by the way does he know what "Farmer Giles" are )? lol. Seems to me with all due respect that this is probably the best chance that many of you players will ever have of qualifying for a major world recognised tournament and that moaning in any way is futile and a bit of a kick in the guts to the GB9 team who are working very hard to provide UK players with this chance. Just my opinion.

Absolutely agree with Ossie and usedtobe. As i said in an earlier post......if i was in charge this would have been dropped a long time ago!....no pleasing some people!!......way too much work for very little reward when people dont appreciate it. Unreal. By the way, first time i heard that Daz' farmer giles were his eyes!!!!! Dazzler.....back to bed.....been in bed for over 24 hours ILL as a ****** -----------------

Now everyone has had their say I just want to say this event will still go ahead if there are enough entries. With most of the big boys already qualified this is a great opportunity.
As suggested we'll happily add £100 if the players want to add £10 to a pot for runner up prizes.
It would be easy for us to cancel and get used to a normal tournament schedule where we start the event take down on Sunday night but I hate to cancel events and want to see as many UK players in the WPM as possible. We are supposed to be moving forwards not backwards so please support the event and get your entries in before the 9 April deadline.

I remember a similar fuss being made in the PDC darts circuit when players weren't paid at certain rounds when qualifying for the World Championships.
People who run these events obviously have a huge thankless task. And while I don't play these events just yet, I look forward to doing so in the future and commend the spirit of the organisers to run such a tour with total dedication and perhaps not quite the financial reward they may expect.
I look forward to being loaded enough to have a go...

We need more entries if this is to go ahead. Closing date is 9 April and cannot be extended as we have to make arrangements with the hotel and table fitters so if you want a chance at this please apply now or we will miss our chance at having another UK player in the masters.
