just watched the interview thought it was class, raj is right 100% ive played pool 25 yrs in the uk and ill tell you this it was ruined the day they started messing with the rules.pool should have one rule and one rule only play it like the rest of the world find the true champions of the game, dont mess with the rules that have brought the game sucsess and sponsorship play it has it should be played,i fully see what raj is saying i play on the tour and so many times i hear the top players say hes got the cut break to a t y am losing daz and imran are first class at it, 9 ball in uk is growing at a rate we thought would not happen dont spoil it by making up our own rules.

my top 5 achievements by a uk player......

1. daryl peach(world champion)
2. darren Appleton (5th US Open
3. Karl Boyes (3rd W.P.C)
4. Raj Hundal (World Masters)
5. Steve Knight (W.P.League).....

if i missed anything feel free to let me know.....

Obviously we are talking American style game....In No particular order........

Daryl Peach. World Championships, European Masters (before it became World Masters)

Raj Hundal. World Masters

Karl Boyes. 3rd World Championships

Tony Drago. 3rd World Championships, World Masters, Predator 10ball

Darren Appleton. 5th US open

Steve knight. World pool league

Imran Majid. Weert Open

Lee Chenman. Weert Open

I honestly think that winning a Eurotour event is very hard to do, and a big acheivement also...

Eurotour winners.....

Imran Majid (2)
Daryl Peach
Tony Drago
Darren Appleton
Mark Gray

Cant think of anything else on an International stage except for Mosconi Cup but thats a team effort so doesnt count.

Thought i should add that one of my proudest wins was when i won my tour card for the IPT....so tough to do as many players found out!
....and especially as i only started playing 8ball properly 3months prior to this, as before there was no need to practice it!
Just thought i would add it to the list!

I guess you can count Jonni Fulcher in the Eurotour winners, even he had a Swiss flag in front of this name at this time ;-)

no. 2 and no. 3??? are you mental?? you honestly think the 2nd and 3rd greatest achievements by any english player in pool are 2 guys NOT winning tournaments???

seriously, i know they're your mates and all that but you're just being silly....

you got take into consideration eric

raj won world masters with 16 players and got $20,000
steve knight won world pool league with 7 players maybe got $20,000 tops

karl finished 3rd in world championship first attempt only been playing a year at the time and got $20,000

someone said to me 3rd in worlds or world masters champion id prob just go for world masters only because its a title, but as a achievment they all have arguements.

us open probably the strongest field event in the world with 400ish entries on proper pool equipment getting 5th at the time i was dissapointed but looking back 2006 new to the game ,i didnt do bad!

in my opinion its tougher to get in top 8 in us open and top 4 in world championship than it is to win world masters or world pool league

3 reason
got to play more matches
and the fields are tougher
06 us open tight bags and it was break box no tapped tables.

so am just saying as achievement there not much in it, slightly favour micks view.

but to me its all about winning so id pick the titles esp world masters.
:-)

yeah stick are jonny in lads..

andy agree why cant we play a sport as one governing body and one set of rules ,i just hope the game doesnt go like 8ball did, but this maybe the problem when not much money in the game people want to start something new to get a piece of the pie so to speak...

imo i think coming 5th at the us open and 3rd at world championships is head and shoulders above the weert open and a eurotour win..... no disrespect but 75% of the field cant even shoot... the US open daz beat some WORLD CLASS players on proper tables, not where you in the rail 4foot from the bag and where you tap the break and play 6ball like the eurotour was up until 3events ago..... There have been many weak players that have won a eurotour, weak players dont win the USopen..... Onto Karl he beat Chang first round a previous finalist then beat top class players on TV IN the phillipines, he,s never played on TV before and never even played in the event before and finished 3rd.... for me thats a GREAT achievment!... i can agrre that steve knight and raj could be 2/3 and daz/karl 4/5th.... but for me i could never put eurotours/weert opens etc above!.....

For me its like winning the european golf tournament and saying it better achievment than 3rd at the us masters......

or winning stella artios tennis and comparing it to 3rd at wimbledon....... just my humble opinion of course!

well said...

to me to prove your a great player you have got to win on the world stage few times just like reyes, strickland, archer, bustamente, svb, pagualyan, hohman, ortman, souquet, chang, yang, choa, toshikawa, buddy hall, archer, mike sigel, alacano, orcullo, etc all have done this

for me there is the top 16 top 20 players in world and then u have the next tier of players and at the moment all the top brits and most europeans are in the 2nd tier and that to me is the target in my opinion.

Anyway back on topic........

......Imran wont play Raj cos he chooses not to for what ever reason, that doesnt matter, they just wont play.

......I dont play for money, because i choose not to.

......Not sure if Tony D would be bothered about playing.

The only player who seems happy to play would be Darren A........so .... Raj Vs Darren ???????

I bet a few people would pay to watch that match right there!

Neutral location too.......centre of England would be nice...

....Any chance?
