Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update. With the number of entries as it stands I think it would be reasonable to play double elimination down to the last 8, rather than the last 16 as originally planned. As of now that is the intention, which I hope nobody will object to (but please let me know if you think otherwise!).
Can anybody who has not paid please do so asap (paypal the only real option at this late stage) to confirm your place in the event (James / Neil I know your cheques are in the post).
Can everyone who has them please bring a set of match balls on Saturday. My aim is to start the matches promptly at 11:30 so don't be late!
My mobile number for any last minute enquiries is 07765512661.
One last thing - please be patient with me on the day. My name is not Shir and so I'm not tournament director extraordinaire!
See you all sat.
Jonathan.

Good luck everybody and a massive thanks again to Jonathan for organising and running this event and also to Pat for the Scottish version of the event.
This is another reminder that GB9 and UK pool would be nowhere without the hard work and dedication of the many people who volunteer their time for us.

Still no payment and no contact from the following players who have asked to be put on the list for this.
Dal Singh Tony Burton James Taylor.
In case they don't read this and someone who knows them does, can someone ask them to contact me today? This was advertised as a pre-pay event to avoid no shows and guarantee funds for the winner's attendance at the euro champs.

Firstly, a big congratulations to Ossie for qualifying to represent GB today by winning the solihull event. Secondly, commiserations to Damian Overton who played some superb pool all day long, and only lost to a rampant ossie in the final. Finally, thank you to everyone who supported this event today and helped to make it happen. Last 8 results below. If anyone wants the full days results I can always e-mail the tournament spreadsheet to Big Dave for him to post it here (if that would be OK?). 28 runners in all (3 no shows - no prizes for guessing who) Last 8 Damian Overton 9 - 8 Jonathan Mathers Ben Moore 9 - 5 James Kay Craig Osborne 9 - 7 Dave Simmonds Kevin Uzzell 9 - 0 Alan Millership Semis Damian Overton 9 - 4 Ben Moore Craig Osborne 9 - 8 Kevin Uzzell Final Craig Osborne 9 - 2 Damian Overton [ This message was edited by: nicknameless on 2008-05-10 23:40 ]

No Problem Jonathan you did the hard work getting people there in the first place - You'll always get a couple who let you down. Can I take this opportunity to say a massive well done to Ossie on winning this, I can honestly say that I cannot name anybody more deserved of the opportuniry to represent us in the Euro Championship, a top player and a top bloke. Well done Ozzie and thanks to everyone who helped to run the event.
It is dissapointing when people ask to be put on the list but do not turn up. I tried to call one of them and left a voice mail but got no reply. Needless to say GB9 will be expecting the places to be paid for.
Many congratulations Ozzie and good luck to you, Imran and Daz in Germany.

Thanks Jonathan, Andy and Riggers. Am over the moon to be honest. like most people i never thought i would play in the European Championships due to the funding problems.... ie: no prizemoney etc, lots to fork out with hotel etc blah blah but thanks to GB9 i have most expenses paid for and will represent GB at the Euros.. comisserations to Damien who just didnt get any rolls at all in the final, I thought the day was gonna be Kev Uzzells to be honest and was delighted to beat him 9-8. A BIG well done to Dave Simmons - shuda beat me in the Quarter final - 7-5 down and he missed the 8 to go on the hill, dont know if i would have recovered from there? Well played though mate - gave me a scare! anyway - absoloutley chuffed to bits! thanks to everyone who helped run the day.... im off to Germany! Wohooo!

Congrats Ossie, one of the rare occasions I can say I enjoyed our match even though I lost! Had a feeling you'd go on to win it, you played some great pool. Am sure you'll do us proud in Euro.
Well done again mate
