I don't have a mat Phil but think one of the locals does, i will look into it and try and get them all done again. Kev, I recommend you check how they rack first and have a really good go racking the balls before retapping. Retapping often makes things worse unless you use the opposite end of the table because you'll be very lucky to find the same holes. If the balls don't touch try squeesing them up by holding the outer 5 balls at the middle and back of the pack and pushing forward then let go ever so gently. Hopefully they'll stay glued onto the 1 ball in which case they don't need retapping. Also don't worry if the 2 balls behind the one don't touch each other and the same goes for the 2 at the back of the pack as this doesn't matter as long as they touch their adjacent balls around the outside of the pack. Good advice Lee, we will leave them alone if they are still racking reasonably ok.
Thanks.

alternatively just drill yes DRILL! some little holes in the slate for that permanent tapping effect, you could even countersink the holes then the balls always sit just below the surface and then jump up in the air when hit! maybe even gulleys towards the pockets for that never miss feeling hehe.....or perhaps Lee's advise is the more sensible option?

Hi Simmo77
Do you have any places left for your tournament on 17th Feb. My partner is interested in playing - I am only the driver.
Thanks

Unfortunately all 40 places have been taken at the moment, If you wish to give me the full name of the person interested in playing i can put them on the reserve list and send you a pm if a spot becomes available.
Although i can't give any guarantee's i would think there is still a good chance if you do, it is normally the case that a few people pull out.

If anyone near bye is interested there is also a weekly comp for £5 at Nottingham on Thursday nights 19:30 start. We could use seeing a few new faces, we are down to only 5/6 people a week showing up at the moment. [ This message was edited by: simmo77 on 2007-12-19 17:17 ]

I hope to do the draw at the club on 8th Feb so i will need to receive payments by the 1st,
This allows time for me to let anyone in from the reserve list if anyone hasn't paid.

I will be there and yes i can take payment there. I would prefer cheque though in case quite a few people catch on and do the same. It will be easier to remember who has paid that way.

Hi people, I was hoping you can help me, i'm looking to start playing 9 Ball more in the new year and I am hoping to enter a few tournaments also. I was wondering how and what I would have to do, to perhaps come professional, and to enter these tournaments. Are there certain memberships I would need to buy, etc? I really hope that you can help me, as i'm not all that sure what the procedures are. Thanks very much for your help Sean Gloyn E mail: Sean.gloyn@virgin.net

Hi all, just after some opinions again.
I am thinking about using the same system as at the last one where the draw sheet is ready made up for the k/o stages.
Group 1 winner vs group 8 R/up at the top of the draw, and vice versa at the bottom. The same will again apply for groups 2 & 7, 3 & 6, and finally for groups 4 & 5.
At the last one this helped keep things rolling, rather than people waiting around if one group takes longer than others.
Let me know if you would rather it be a random draw for the k/o stages and i will switch back to that. The only downside is it can take a while longer and i know some of you will be travelling a long way again.
Thanks Kev.
PS. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

i dont agree, otherwise you could end up with a freind in your group, you could have already qualified and your freind needs a win off of you to go through, as it doesn't matter if your first or second as its a random draw, you could let them win so you both go through. I think that it should be set out, as long as everybody can see where you will go if you finish top/second in your group. Theoretically people would want to win their groups so that they would have a second placed player in the first ko round.

well i dont mind either lol, just saying. thing is there is the upside to that as wee as you could get a draw which see's that, if you qualify, there is little chance of you having a top player in the next round
