Well done Mark, both me and James Kay said you were the man to beat at the last16 stage! Well done to Chris too.....beat me 7-6. Not the best tourny for me results wise but really enjoyed the day anyway. Club and staff were great...really made to feel welcome! Tables were in great condition too! Well done to Shir.....yet again another superbly ran event under her wing. Looking forward to the next one! -----------------

What a great tournament. Well done to Mark for the win, the field was quality.
Big up to several people.......
Jason Devanney (Cueofthunder) for having the biggest break on the day...no question....run outs are easy after sinking 8 or 9 balls, lol!
Phil Burford for taking out two huge scalps in the form of Andy Richardson and Daryl Peach back to back...no mean feat there..huge break and great timing also.
The Rileys Manager, George and his staff for friendly atmos and great service.
....and obviously Shir who did a fantastic job of putting on a great, great tournament.
Riggers did nothing.
Tables were very nice and overall the club is probably the best in the North of England.
Well done.

Huh! I'll get you for that Diamond! And while we're on the subject of big-ups... Here's some more... Caroline Walch for travelling hundreds of miles to support the event despite finishing work at 3am on Sunday morning! Chris Cowie - another who supports more than his fair share of events despite the 200 mile round trip! Phil & Paul for joining us all the way from Derry, Northern Ireland. They both played some great pool too. I know there were lots more, too many to mention, that travelled very long distances for this event too. I think you'll agree it's exceptional to get a field of 55 for an 8 ball event especially when you look at the quality too (Richardson, Appleton, Melling, Gray, Peach, Raybone, Hill, Worthington, Boyes, Colclough). Big thanks from me & Shir for supporting it. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-06-11 11:00 ]

Lee & Shir..... Absolutely fantastic event! The club was awesome. Tables played pretty tight but fair. Staff coming round and askng if you were ok for a drink. The only 2 downsides of my day was the club was a little bit on the warm side and the other was i ran in to a steam-roller called Melling in the loser's side!!!
As I said to you Lee, that has to be the best run event in this country that I've played in and I hope thats going to be the first of many tournaments held there.
Very well done to both of you!!!!!

well done to shir and lee good tourny and all the staff great job
my 30 mile round trip took it out of me i ran out of steam from qf 5-3 up and thru it away against melling!
semi final melling was on fire
and the final he was 7-3 up mark looked to give up missed a ball and got lucky leaving chris nothing.. chris had chance at 7-4 messed up he had 2 balls left over pocket at 7-5 and missed cued.. and mark punished his mistakes at 7-6 he finished the match well and well done to him! hope he got home ok!
look forward to next event just hope its not 8ball as i hate 8ball on them tables! imo knowledge of the game is just thrown out of window!
more 10ball comps would be great!
but good day and nice to see some faces old and new faces!
see most of you wed at stanstead

Riggers using Shir's logon.... Cheers Daz. I know a lot of the purist 8 ballers from the reds and yellows background don't like the game so much with big pokets and fast cloths because you feel you lose a lot of your 'knowledge' advantage. I still love it though because at least there's still *some* thinking to be done even if not as much as you'd like whereas with 9 ball there are few decisions to make. That's not that I don't like 9 ball & 10 ball but it's just nice to have a change every now and then. Certainly the reaction to the club and the staff has been great and I know Shir wants to run another one. The next one is sure to be 9 or 10 ball. It'll probably be later in the year now as we have some BPPPA ranking events in July & August. [ This message was edited by: shir on 2007-06-11 16:29 ]

Thanks to Shir, Lee, and the great staff at Barnsley for putting on a smashing comp which seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all. Win or lose. Thanks again and looking forward to the next one. And Congratulations to Mark for winning this superb event against a strong field (even if he did get lucky against me) chuckle [ This message was edited by: Beertrixpotta on 2007-06-12 00:18 ]

Shoka must have been REAL drunk Sunday ...and Eric....no problem pal. You are a great cueist and you certainly ruffled a few feathers with your potting and pattern play. Well done pal.

Hi peeps, Seen as this is my first post, id like to thank Shirl and Riggers for putting the tournament on. As a complete novice and the first time I played the game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also was quite pleased to go in the lead against Chris Melling early in the match I played, then my *nerve went and couldn't stop my hands from shaking !! lol, he would have hammered me anyway Loads of nice guys there two, a couple of well known faces I spoke to that I didnt know like Chris Melling and Daryl Peach, didn't realise who Daryl was until I was cheering for Barney playing phil taylor on sky sports, sorry mate As a mate of Eric Doc's, I think he could very well become something in the game, he's a top cueist and it wont take him long to pick the game up. Great event, nice club, nice people. Thanks Paul *admin edit [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-06-13 22:19 ]
