Not sure, i think it was the result of a long and loss of interest. Sorry but that's the best i can manage from what i saw.
Oh and by the way good luck to all our boys that are going to the Eurotour next week.

I think unlike some of us Daryl was just there for some match practice before the Eurotour event next week. Please don't take him withdrawing as bad sportsmanship, because it definately wasn't.

Daryl was certainly NOT showing anything other than tiredness, unlike myself and Ossie he had to drive for nearly 3 hours alone and was struggling to keep awake at the club, he was feeling bad for it but just had to look at the safety side of the drive, its so foggy out there and concentration needed to be at max level so I certainly think he did the right thing....I think i would have given you a better game Simmo if it had not been for my massive come back from 7-2 down to win 9-8 it took so much out of me! Great day and a great event Kev well done!

i personally thing double elim are better played a few of these group formats and they drag on too long, i also think sat events would be better too,
cant believe peach pulled out, well done ozzi this could have been riggers event if he didnt twich up against ozzi, massive resule against imran tho mate,
jonathon matheres is a solid player never seems to take the wrong shot, and never rushes into a shot and knows when to turn a shot down and play the percentage, can learn alot from him.

Hi just in case my 01:20 post didn't sound very good (I was knackered!) I was just trying to point out that Daryl needed to go home, he was so tired and was losing his match to Ossie (5-0 when it stopped), Daryl was a gent all day and great fun to play against.....all he wanted to do at 5-0 down was get home safely and I don't blame him.....with a 3 hour journey home by himself in fog it was a good thing he went when he did. Please understand it was the sensible option to go not one of a bad loser or anything like that.

A very well run event again Kev, so thank you for the hard work you've put in to it. Another consistent and strong performance in the end from Ozzie. Well done pal. I know you didn't play the best against me and Adam Clarke but you didn't have to but when it came to it you did what you needed to do again. On a personal note I was obviously pleased to beat Imran in a match where he missed only 1 ball which was a combo down the rail early in the match. I followed that up with a dissapointing performance against Oz where I had plenty of chances in the match but made stupid errors and my head went down. Great practice for the Euro Tour though and especially that win over an in form Imran will do no harm for my confidence going in to Paris. Now I just ned to beat Appleton a few times tonight and tomorrow to get the confidence up even further... easy peasy [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2008-02-18 09:14 ]

lol, great run tournament kev, long old day but it was definatly worth it, dissapointing results for me though.
Well done ozzie, i said in the car home on the way to Burton that i thought you was going to win it, proved me right. Must have upped your game from the early group stages though, even though you did do me 7-1

Thanks guys i hate to say it but i dont feel like i played well all day really? Like Riggers quite rightly said, just did enoygh when i had to i guess.... been struggling for couple weeks now which is not good wiv Paris on the horison. Desperate for a result there for world spots and just hope that desperation doesnt come out in my game. Daryl was just knackered, The score was absoloutley no reflection on him or me or the match. We had a little saver anyway depending on who won it so he will be seen alright! - not that the World Champ is short of a few quid these days ??? lol See you in Paris Sweetheart! lol Cheers Simmo - you plaid great and were flyin at the start of the match, reckon if we hadnt swapped tables you woulda won pal! Riggers - great win against Imran - Fuff! Jackpot mate. Phil Morgan - Well plaid again mate, fatigue got to you in the end but getting in the money and seeing more and more business end of tournaments - keep it up... Thanks to Gareth Esprit for the entertainment - Darkside Promotions on show as ever - fantastic, it was a really good atmosphere in the club yesterday, alomost exhibition stuff from the DS. lol Thanks again - see you all in Gay Paris.... SPUDGUN......

Well done Ossie! Just to clear up the reason why i withdrew......At the start of my match with Ossie i asked him if he wanted to go through because the other half was still early on in the quarters and whoever won out of us would have a long wait......i estimated finishing around 1/1:30am. I had to drive over the peak district on my tod in bad weather conditions for nearly 3 hours and i just thought it was best for me to do what i did. Craig kindly offered to give me a tickle (cash by the way! lol) if he won......which he did! That was it.......we played a few racks but were just slapping the balls about....then i left. I did say to Kev when i asked if i could join that it was just to get some matches in before Paris.....only played GB9 since Mosconi due to having other pool arrangements to set up my future months events etc. Overall, i enjoyed the day and i hope nobody is upset with my withdrawl. Well done with the event Kev, very well ran and a great friendly atmosphere! Daryl. -----------------

Wow things must have ground to a virtual standstill I left about 3.50pm after the group stage (went out on rack difference despite winning 3 out of 4 lol) and it looked like the group stages were almost done on some of the groups.

We finished around 22:30.
I will definately try and think how is the best way to get things moving quicker before the next one.
Good tournament though.

First class tourny Kev as always. You deserve a big pat on the back for putting this on for everyone (and also for such a good performance on the day!).
Also congrats to ossie on another good win.
The format is a tricky one and as always there are no perfect answers. The group format is good value for money for those players who don't make it to the latter stages, but a bit gruelling towards the end of the day for those who do. I don't know anything about timings but I'm wondering how long a double KO format with the same size field would take and whether there would be a considerable difference?
Also this thread demonstrates why it's probably best to know all the facts before commenting on the actions of someone else.

I was wondering the same about the double eliminator and will see how people feel about it before running another. My summary of the day: Performance of the day - Lee Rigby on knocking out Imran Malid, Awsome mate! Personal thanks go to Daryl for coming to the event and i hope he feels he got some good practice before the Eurotour, just wish i had the chance to play him. I also totally agree with jump_shot, Jonathan Mathers is definately someone to learn from, You never see the wrong shot played. Also after a very painful quarter final defeat shows his class by thanking me and shaking my hand before leaving. Not everyone would of done the same in that situation. The old guy that came in and coached Phil Burford and Ozzie for about an hour with no charge - Priceless. And a final congratulations to Craig, maybe not at his best but still to good on the day! The old guy that came in was quality, not only is he trying to coach the first british Junior champion, who happens to be no. 2 in the pro division of the pro tour at the moment, but he also looks like the KFC colonal.
He was slating professional snooker players left right and centre, he said Michael Holt was an idiot, to put it politely, and so was his dad.
Pick of the day for me has to be Mathers destruction of Imran in the group stages, could never had of predicted that.
Although saying that i was speaking to Thomas Ainsworth-Smith's dad when Tom was playing Johnathon and he said that if there was £1000 on it, you can guarentee it would never have been 7-0.
Well done Kev for getting to the final, i remember you saying that you were going to get there when some1 asked you who was going to win.

For the record Adam when i predicted reaching the final it was a joke!
Maybe i will joke about winning the next one and see if that works.
Oh, and 1 more thing i have congratulated Johnathan on his gracious defeat. I should therefor congratulate Tom for winning that game i think from 7 - 3 down.
