Cheers Steve, yeah a great opportunity and a nice confidents boost for the winner. Hope to get the full field but either way the sponsorship is guarenteed. Looking forward to running this as love having a new winner

Hi Phil, Go on then, I'll give it a go, hopefully won't get slaughtered . Not really sure what info you need or how the handicap system works here, but as I mentioned in my email to you, I take 2 handicap from a +1 player, so however you translate that into a handicap for me to enter as, cool . Also got a couple more questions: - What's the PayPal I need to send the money to? - What is the "3 point rule"? - With 32 players and only six tables, that means only 12 can play at once, so most are stood around just watching? As such, does everyone need to be there at 10am? Seems kind of redundant if some people won't be playing until 12 or 1 or such . - When do you expect the tournament will be finished? Cheers, see you in a couple of weeks! Chris Bryant

Hi Chris. Phil will give out staggered start times closer to the date so if your not due to play until 12pm then he'll post up on the forum the time you need to be at the club (penalties for lateness too though mate).

Hi Chris, thanks for your entry its always great to see new faces at our events and im sure will enjoy the event. As Matt said i will do the draw for match times ect so if your not neededat 10am you wont have to be there. The paypal is email nhansen@hotmail.co.ukThe 3 point rule is part of the break, you score 1 point for each ball potted and 1 point per ball passed the headstring line (where you break from) if you dont score 3 pointson the break its not a foul its just end of turn, your opponent has the option to play the shot or pass it back to you, both players still have the option of playing a push out shot. I send you an email if you want me to explain any other rules just message me m8. We wont know when the event should finish until we know the full player numbers.

Ooopsie! Unfortunately we've had a tonne of spammers join the forums lately, and whilst clearing out these pests I've also accidentally deleted Chris's account too! I'm really sorry Chris... tomorrow is the last date to enter this event, great response so far, make sure your name is on the list by end of play tomorrow otherwise you will have to wait for till next year for the next Rookie event.

Hahaha! Talk about making a guy feel welcome . A more effective way of stopping the spammers would be to put in a captcha on the registration form. Even a simple one would require the auto-register spambots (they're not humans) to fill it in which isn't trivial, and a lot of free/cheap botting/spamming software can't do it. Having to enter an email isn't really a safety net either because people can use anonymous email accounts with no creation time/effort required, e.g. http://mailinator.com/ . Also on other forums I'm an admin/mod on we've used the technique of "let's ask questions that anyone wanting to join our forum should know, but that bots won't know", and then asking a random question when a user tries to sign up. So for example you might ask a user "What colour is the 8-ball?" and they'd have to type in 'black' for their registration to go through to the server and the email with the password to be sent. As with the Captcha, most free/cheap botting software can't do this.
