This tournament needs an entire overhaul if you ask me after seeing what happened this weekend. The rules need to be addressed asap and changed.

The main one is the break its an absolute joke if you ask me. Also double elim is silly I mean no offence but its ridiculous at this standard, it should just be straight up knock out.

The break I agree, but they run to a strict timescale therefore tables have to be tapped to avoid any disagreements. Travel across Europe to play Single KO? double illim can be unfair as the best player in tourny does not always win. however at least evryone knows they will have chance to play at some point

How does tapping tables avoid disagreements? I'm not too sure what you mean mate? [ This message was edited by: Administrator on 2010-04-19 08:45 ]

An innocent question about the tapping of the tables if I may...
If disagreements occur with how the rack is formed at this level, then why aren't magic racks bought in as the standard? They always stay real tight consistently and it is so efficient and quick. Plus they don't damage the slate by tapping dents into them.
Food for thought - the worlds greatest dart players travel to Las vegas to play Best of 11 legs in tournaments where a £6k first prize is given! That is ridiculous, and I can't see what enjoyment you would get in wanting to play single elim. Isn't it nice to get a second bite of the cherry?

Tapping the table does not damage the slate, it only leaves dents in the cloth. If the tables were to get reclothed they would be like they were in the first place. Plus, although the magic rack is a terrific idea there is still speculation as to whether it holds up in tournament play. As for double elimination allowing a lesser player to win the event? how do you come to this conclusion? Surely it gives the better players more chance because they can have one slip up, please explain. I have been dithering on going to eurotour and i most certainly wouldn't pay out all that money to potentially have one match....the game isn't just about the big guns, yes they win every tournament but without the guys (and girls) who enter knowing that they really dont have much of a chance to win, there would be no eurotour. Can't cater for the best players all the time.

How does tapping tables avoid disagreements? I'm not too sure what you mean mate? Sorry I meant the magic rack but tapping tables is the same thing. It just means that you are always going to get a frozen rack therefore there are going to be no issues with non frozen balls, unlike triangle racking where you will more often than not get problems arising from those not being able to freeze balls consistently. ----------------- Chris @ Pro9

Can't cater for the best players all the time. I didn't realise about tapping only denting the cloth, not the slate. My bad The only bad thing about the magic rack is the durability. Can it hold up in tournament play? If players don't abuse it by folding or just swiping off the table then it will last longer - I have probably used mine for about 250 racks and it still holds up very nicely, but that is with me treating it with care. Being delicate adds on crucial seconds which are probably not available if the tournament is to stay on schedule. I can see both arguments for/against having double elimination. I guess my question about 2nd bite of the cherry was aimed at the weaker players who, rather than being sent packing, have a second opportunity albeit a much harder route to the finals. I wasn't trying to suggest that this gives them a better opportunity to win. Sorry if it sounded like that, wasn't my intention. I guess to play on the Eurotour you need a good sponsor, confidence in your own ability as well as a little bit of luck on your side in a race to 9. Maybe we should all just pray for Barry Hearn or whoever the guy is who made the Indian Premier Cricket League to come and grab American Pool by the balls and inject some real cash in this game. Maybe then there can be a pro division and a challenger/amateur division giving the 'weaker' (if you can call them that - theyre machines too!) players some impetus.

Thanks for all your congrats guys....they are much appeciated! To be honest i suprised myself because i aint hit a ball since my Buxton GB9 main event win, as i have been so busy with other things! ....But, as the event went on i think i started to play a lot stronger....as you need to do in order to win. Its been a good few months for me with 2 wins out of the last 4 Eurotour events, International 8ball championships champion, last 2 GB9 main event wins, and world team championships win. So i am doing something right lol??? Well done to Chris on a great tourny too. He played well this week and delivered some of the form we all expect from him. In his own words to me, he ran out of steam a little in the semi, but at the end of the day, its his best result so far, and this gives him something to build on. As for getting home, well except for Boyzi (who is trying to get a train on Wednesday to London) and Raj (who is still in Treviso waiting for a flight).....all the rest of us are now in Liege after a gruelling 15hour bus ride through the night. We are staying here tonight, then we have a ferry booked from Zebugge to hull on Tuesday evening leaving at 7pm (arriving at 8:15am wednesday in Hull) ....Then we all have to get home or to Liverpool to pick our cars up etc. Obviously its not been the greatest trip ever, but we are all keeping smiling, and fingers crossed we will all be home on Wednesday! Thanks again guys, Daryl -----------------
