how could you?? pls send me your proposed format and timed match schedule. 8 tables are free from about 2:30pm on Sunday and must all be complete by about 11pm so we can start dismantle. I can't wait to c this! Oh and don't forget that anybody still in the main event would have to forfeit their match in the qualifier as u can't play 2 matches at the same time. U amaze me sometimes cd

Just to reitterate what the others said I totally understand Worthy's comments but there is more to the costs you guys are not aware of. We most definately DID NOT make those kind of profits from the event - just a few hundred quid which the tour badly needs after all the cost of staging events. I appreciate this may put players off and perhaps therefore we scrap the Blackpool WPM Qualifier although personally I think it's a fantastic opportunity for another UK player to get entry in one of the worlds best tournaments. Regarding Maximumbreak's comments, as Jonathan says the tour set out in season one to do things differently from previous tours and ensure there was some value and recognition in achieving the coveted places at the top of the rankings. In previous seasons we have sent the top 2 players to the EC's but the cost of this was becoming prohibiitive, especially when we have such huge costs associated with staging events. But, as a tour that made several important committments to players when we started out in 2008 I believe it would have been wrong to go back on one of these in just the third season so we offered a cash prize instead that was actually of lower value than the cost of sending players to the EC's. Basically if we make a committment we will stick to it whereever we possibly can and that's what we've done. Well done to Boyzone and good luck in Vegas. Im on Committee, and if it was totally down to me i wouldnt have ran any quals for the WPM cos i know that there will always be players moaning....no matter what you do. But the main men of the tour decided to put even more work into these weekends in order to bring these chances to you players who would love to have the chance to play in this great event. ........like i said, its hardly appreciated. If the guys do run another Qual at Blackpool........i suggest you either enter, or dont enter......no one is making you play. If its too expensive then dont enter.....SIMPLE! Worthy is one of my best mates, and i honestly know where he is coming from....it would be great to add extra cash prizes, but at the moment it isnt possible. And starting posts like this is just the thing that could easily jeapordise the tour........if i was putting the time into the tour that Jonathan, Andy, Lee, Adam are and i heard this.......i would just say..........HERE, YOU RUN IT THEN IF YOU THINK YOU COULD DO BETTER! Nobody is making any profit here, and the excellent tables that we all enjoyed playing on at the weekend have to be bought with cold hard cash........not chocolate buttons! Im not having a pop at anyone here, im just trying to shed some light on the matter..........everything that is done on GB9 is to help bring longevity and stableness to the tour so that its around for years to come and not another UK tour that falls by the wayside. Give the guys a break please. Dazzler....amazed sometimes!!! -----------------

if i was adam id feel robbed, the poor lad never even got a mention. I agree Adam had a fantastic season and I wish I had recognised that more at the meeting too. He was congratulated on achieving his first GB9 win though along with others who acheived the same. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to prepare my speech as I was busy every night in the run up to the event and only had a few hours sleep Thursday night then worked all day Friday getting the stuff ready. I still don't regret the tour kept it's original promise to pay a ranking incentive to the top 2 players though. If you take these things away you destroy the tour in my opinion as there is nothing worthwhile for people to aim for and no point in being UK number one. We could go back to the old days if you really want - and I'll get my life back while I'm at it. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2010-03-17 21:23 ]

Am really shocked at some of the things am reading to be honest.. dont get me wrong i have my own little negative comments but i only do it because i care about the tour and pool in general... but i certainly know how much goes into running gb9 well i dont really but i got good idea and its pretty frightening even more so when these guys are not getting paid for it. i got nothing to do with qualifers for wpm but even i knew they wouldnt be making much from them..people forget about costs.. but whatever they do make great as it all comes back to gb9 players. pretty staggering really the amount of work these guys do and am still pinching myself where playing in hotels when 9ball itself so new and young in uk and only year 3 of gb9.. at the moment there is teething problems but thats to be expected besides that itsa all great. i run a little tour at 8ball years ago people accused me of making money what a joke that was.. in fact i lost 6k out of my own pocket in 3 years ..best thing i ever did was pack it up.. players really dont appreciate anything sometimes.. So i really appreciate what these guys are doing and i know how much stick they get and complaints but there strong and luckily for us they play pool so they take are moaning with a pinch of salt thankfully ..well i hope so anyway also we lucky to get 2 spots for wpm and what a great prize it is like others have said u have the option to enter or not but for such great prize i would be entering everyday if wasnt already in it! u all enter to win it for the prize for sure there was no false advertising so u all knew what u was getting for your money... was just unfortunate for paul williams he left empty handed but on other hand it will give him great confidence going forward as he did really well to get final in such a tough field! lets get behind gb9 guys and do our bit to help we need to be like one big family and force the game forward Dynamite.. in full support of gb9 ----------------- world ranked no 1 and current world 9ball champion Available for exhibitions & coaching www.darrenappleton.com

let me get one thing straight i am not having a go at gb9 i thought the 1st event at Buxton was fantastic. The work that Riggers,Andy,Jonathan and the rest of the team put in to get the event on was unbelievable. It is the WPM QUALIFIER that i am questioning and still think that the semis and finalist could have been paid. If the costs of running the event are so high then maybe the entry fee should have been £10 more putting another £320 in the pot. This would at least give some consolation prize to runner up and semi finalists. It is ok for Daryl,Mark and Daz to have their say on this matter but they do not have to play in these qualifiers and all three of them win the lions share of the money from gb9 in prize money. Most of the players in the qualifiers are in the same boat as me and have to juggle pool with work. I know for a fact that the qualifier in buxton cost a lot of the players £250 (extra night in hotel and day off work) plus the cost of the weekend. It is an expensive hobby for most of the players and just think that structure of the Blackpool qualifier could be looked at. I am only saying on here what most of the players in the qualifier were thinking. Again thanks to all the guys running the tour and hope it goes from strength to strength over the coming season.

I completely agree with you again andy, well said. A lot of people on here seem to get very defensive as soon as someone makes a suggestion, they automatically think we're criticising the tour itself which isn't correct at all. The lads have done a great job with it thus far and I have no doubt it'll get bigger and better thanks to their hard work. Like andy said, it's easy for the pros to defend the WPM qualifier as they're already in it and rightly so and they earn quite abit from the tour too. Think of the lesser players too boys, I know it's our choice to play in it but at least make it appealing to us mere mortals. ----------------- Regards

fair enough andy u got some good points
even though matchroom set the entry fee privatley the players can add a extra £10 on top sure matchroom wouldnt have problem with that..
