He asked me to put his name down in Scarborough as did Gareth and Damien. He has not contacted me to say he won't be attending so will have to wait and see.

Just a couple of questions regarding the comp:

This is the venue for the GB9 in September so have the tables been reclothed recently and are they tapped?

What would the prize breakdown be based on the current 25 entries?

Are the knockout stages going to follow this format: Winner Grp A vs R-Up Grp B etc etc or will it be a random draw?

Cheers

The tables have not been reclothed yet and are not tapped.
Prize money = £600
Prize breakdown based on 24 entries:-
Winner £250
Runner up £100
3rd & 4th £75
5th - 8th £25

The knockout stages will be a random draw.

Let me know your views about the prize breakdown.

Prize breakdown pretty much spot on, my only concern would be the random draw. I dont think you should be able to meet the other qualifier from your group until the final. Theres nothing worse than being drawn in a group with a top player, qualifying and then drawing that same player in the 1st knockout stage. Just my opinion.

I thought of that but i think it would only be fair to everyone if it was random draw for single knockout. I am willing to here the views from other players coming to this event.

The usual for knockout stage is to draw all the winners against all the runner ups randomly. Its therefore possible to draw the person from your group which is just luck of the draw and once you get to the knockout stage you should expect to have to beat anyone put in front of you if you want to progress IMO. Good luck with the tournament Dazza.

I would always do Winner Grp A vs R-Up Grp B etc etc, that way the draw does itself and there is know arguing!

Even that can result in match fixing in the final stages of the groups as the players in those groups see who is looking like winning the other group. The best way IMO is a new draw after groups with winners vs losers picked at random.

I am leaning more towards random draw from last 16 or last 8 more than winner group A plays runner up from group B.
A definite decision will be made by the evening of Saturday.

Format and draw will be as follows:-

8 or 7 groups of 4 depending on how many entries turn up on the day. 1 table per group will be used. These will be drawn randomly.
Group games races to 6 alternate break.
Single knockout from last 16 or 8 again depends on entry numbers.
This will be drawn all winners of groups in one hat and runner-up's in the other hat.
Race to 7 alternate break for last 16/8
Semi finals again will be a random draw race to 9 alternate break.
Final race to 11 alternate break.
Prize Money will be sorted on the day.
