Listen, I think Chris only visits here once a week, so give him a chance. Some of the maths here is pretty sloppy and doesn't even include the price of the trophies so let's wait before making any judgement. Chris doesn't need to make any money out of this, but he shouldn't have to finance it all himself either... There's a lot of work that goes into running an event and a promoter's petrol and other expenses need to be covered otherwise he's paying for the privilege of working for some occasionally less than gracious contestants. ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

Hi all its Jo Chris's wife, to the faceless twerps who hide behind a nickname and loose of what chris has done i think you are a bunch of pathetic greedy toe rags who has forgotten all the times that chris has done things for the game of nine ball when working for rileys chris took NOTHING for running comps now he may of made a guenuine mistake and also expects to be paid for all his time and effort (and me being his wife see's how much he puts into it) you loose him off, well you have all suceeded ,making him feel terrible you have hurt him deeply, chris is an honest person and you lot have made him feel like a thief I HOPE YOUR HAPPY AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELVES the reason he has not replied himself to your comments is our internet has been down and last night when he read all the comments he was to hurt to talk to anyone including me i only found out this morning what you idiots have said. WELL DONE chris will no longer be running tournaments so you lot have won hope your happy

Jo, I was the one who asked questions about the prize fund before the tournament. I asked some very clear questions including those on what would be rileys' fee along with his but he didn't give an answer, he dodged the question. This as you can imagine didn't fill me with confidence. Then at the tournament and afterwards some observations were made including the intention of paying the top 24 and a prize pool of £1000+ being stated on the tournament poster. Some people may have gone over the top in their 'accusations' but I have made polite posts and asked genuine questions and I feel Chris has to answer clearly and openly. ----------------- Conceive, Believe, Achieve! I was not getting to the polite ones like yourself who were making a point just the pathetic ones at the end who say stupid things like hes left the country with the money, grow up you lot its no wonder people get sick of fourums when you have idiots posting stupid comments like that in reply to you though i will go through it with chris tonight when he gets home from his normal 12 hr shift and post the amounts on this forum later, in fairness to chris it is normally me who deals with the prize money and listings of it so that chris can consentrate on the running of the event and the stupid bickering that goes on between players that takes up so much of his time but our son was doing the London to Brighton bike race in aid of the heart foundation so i felt that this was more important than the comp

I don't think anyone is attacking chris, Everyone knows he's a top bloke and runs very good comps. Some people just want to know the money breakdown. It's just taken a life of it's own. I blame darkside personally.

I've been following this thread for the last week or so and up until now it really hasn't been worth commenting on. The only point I would make is that, the sooner you so called pool lovers start concentrating on playing the game rather than harping on about prize money the better it will be for the sport. If you were real pool lovers you would pay to enter a tournament with no prize money at all and be happy that you were getting a days pool out of it. What happened to just playing for pride and the thrill of competition. The sums of money we are talking about here are to say the least pitiful and certainly not worth all this aggrevation. I wouldn't blame Chris if he never ran another pool comp after this. Why would anyone put themselves out only to be subject to slanderous comments by you lot. This is just another example of UK pool players shooting themselves in the foot!

I, in no way, AT ALL was even being slightly serious in that comment I made. I can undersand the way you or Chris may have taken it...and I apologise for that, but it was 100% a sarcastic/jokey comment. I suppose it's tough to convey sarcasm through the internet. I'd most pro'lly say that 85% of the things I say over the internet are sarcastic and not meant. It's just the way I am. I'm always messing about on forums...in real life too...I've been told I'm too sarcastic/jokey but it's just the way I am. I have a very laid back attitude to life, and just laugh and joke about anything and everything lol. In fact, if you look to the last page you'll find a longer post from me where I say we should wait for Chris to reply before we jump to any conclusions. That post falls into my 15% of non-sarcastic comments over the internet. That was where I was being serious. I then went on to make a stupid sarcastic remark...which I whole-heartedly apologise for (not being sarcastic here btw). It would be a real shame to UK Pool if Chris decides to stop running events...I myself have never attended one of his tournaments, however I've heard nothing but good things about them. Errr...apart from in this thread lol. Once again, apologies for making that comment... I blame Darkside btw...he's pro'lly leaving the country right now with all our money Apologies in advance...

This is just another example of UK pool players shooting themselves in the foot! Pool-ace, not being funny but that is a bit of a naive statement, it would be great to enter a comp with no prize money (if it was free to enter) but that is not how it works. To take this comp as an example each paid £30+ to enter for that I would expect to know up front how much I would expect to get back depending on how far I progressed, which allows people to work out the offest against travel etc. especially for those travelling a long distance. I also have no problem with people running a tournament for profit providing they state this up front so people can make their own decision as to whether to enter. It is all bout being clear and up-front. This particular comp has really caused a stir as due to the breakdown of entry/prize money not being advertised a couple of people asked out of interest what the breakdown would be and if some of the entry monies would not be paid out; These questions were avoided by Chris. On top of that posters at the club stated that prize fund would be £1000 but this was not paid out. In his own post Chris said that he wanted to pay down to last 24 if he got enough runners but despite 43 entries in a comp limited to 40 entires he paid to last 8. All everybody asks for is honesty up front, especially when specific questions are asked for up front. I agree with other posters on here that Chris is a top bloke and a superb organiser of comps, I think he just needs to polish up on his advertising and diplomacy. I hope he continues to run events as there are not enough people out there who give up there time - I run events in Solihull so I know from experience how hard & frustrating it can be Keep it real Andy Warden ----------------- Andy Warden, GB9 - Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √ [ This message was edited by: cueman on 2008-06-21 04:14 ]

You've missed my point cueman. I'm suggesting that some players motivations are all wrong. It shouldn't be about the money. If it is then why not stay at home and play poker. If you can't afford to play then that's a whole different discussion.

Right all of you here is the breakdown some of you so long for
Entry Fees should of been £1285 Trophies £85 Tables £80 Travel to and from Southfields £60 T.D. Fees £100 Paid out £900 in prize Money £60 Short. I paid out all the money I had so maybe 2 players got away with out paying. I will not apolize for any of this and you can write what you want as I HAVE HAD IT WITH SOME OF THE HURTFUL STUFF THATS BEEN WRITTEN ON HERE. I will not be returning to this forum, I will not be running any more Tournaments and I wash my hands of Pool Tournaments in general Thanks Guys. To the ones who have shown me there support thanks. You know my no. you can always give me a call.
