Several people on this thread have come right out and called Imran a cheat. I'm not sure that's good for the image of the tour. Maybe he genuinely doesn't think he's dry breaking! Has anyone asked him about it?

Have to agree with Phil on this one...i read up on the break rule yesterday, went to rileys to try get more of an understanding of the whole rule...im not a big breaker by any means (ask phil, he will take the go to the bathroom because his break is awsome, and mine is just average) and even when trying to follow the break rule...out of 10 breaks, 6 of them were dry...meaning i would have had to give the table to my opponent...

before the whole tapped tables thing came into place, me phil and alot of player i can imagine, used the wooden triangle to rack the balls. With doing this, i had to break harder, and try harder to improve my break and at times i wasnt getting a ball. So made me practice it...now with tapped tables, i either use my playing cue, or a house cue...as a break cue isnt needed...and that isnt good...especially to those who have spent a fortune on a very good product.

I dont understand the rule completely, as i dont practice it...when i practice...i try hitting the rack hard...and practice my break...but if i was on tour..i would practice the GB9 rule.

2 more events for the GB9 then, hopefully the rules will change...everyone will be happy

I personally don't think the rules need changing, we all know what needs to be done on the break so we should do it. If people can't get the 3 points then call them up on it, simple.

MachineGun - i agree with you to a certain extent...the rules are there and should be followed..Yes...but when people start to fall out of love with the game because of a rule that doesnt benefit the players, then it doesnt become FUN which is what pool is about...

My views on the break rule are as follows..

I think we should get the winner breaks back.. blow the dust off the wooden racks and start using them again!! The big break is what makes this game exciting.. Many people have started saying that 10 ball could well be the future of American pool for reasons such as there are not garenteed balls off the break and more safety play within the game!! (I really like 10 ball for these reasons) but if we bring the hard break into 9 ball and take the tapped tables away then the break is more of a lottery and there will be more safety play in 9 ball!!

I was watching imran play daryl in the quarter finals of the main event and watched imran dry break.. Daryl called him up on it and he still tried to say it wasnt even tho me and Andy Nicholson both saw it.. This doesnt put a good swing on pool in the UK!!

Another shot I saw in the same match.. Daryl was playing a 3 ball into the corner pocket where imran was sat.. Imran was shuffleing in his chair and daryl missed the ball.. This was at 7-6 down so was a big rack in the match!! After the match I was talking with Daryl and he said he shouldnt of missed the ball but even if Imran took 5% of Daryls concerntration off the shot he still sharked him!!

When I played imran in the Final of the pro cup earlier in the season he dry breaked againest me 2 or 3 times in the match.. I didnt notice and Daryl had a chat with me the next day and told me and from that match I always look out for them.. But you are using concerntration that you should be using in the match to look if your opponant is cheating..

Imran has won 4 GB9 main tour tournaments in a row.. This is a massive achievement but he is being remembered for being a cheat and not for being a champion.. This isnt good for the game especially for all the youngsters like myself :-)

Just my thoughts!!

Just to let people know, the shot that is mentioned above regarding the 3ball.....this was in the rack that was a dry break by Imran when he tried to say it wasnt, when i missed the 3 ball because of his antics i confronted him about it.......he just laughed and carried on!

Nice touch!

Great post Phil, although i think the wooden racks wont happen due to time issues.

I think the final stages should have a ref and the tournament should have a floor walking ref.

You can't expect Riggers or Shir to do this as they're wearing enough hats as it is.

I don't play on tour but I'd gladly lend my services. I've reffed enough Billiards and Snooker matches and my rates are very reasonable!

LOL

never going to please every1, if people dont pick up on a dry break its there own fault,

i still think each final should have a resf as in any other cue sports

I'm disappointed to see some player "bashing" in this thread - that's not what the Pro9 forums are about and any further comments of this nature will be regarded as "off topic" and removed!

how the the devils playground is it an interesting read? slagging one of our greatest players off in a forum

one thing i did notice is that imran is the only player to have been named in all this fiasco, its stated in a few other posts that other players are allegedly doin wrong so why are these players not being named?

cheating is such a strong word and it is'nt the right word to be used, and anyway players should already be watching the breaks

i for one hate the 3-point rule coz all it does is bring controversy, but thats the way its

get down to specsavers i heard their glasses are half-price

By the way I hope everyone found the Scarborough people friendly. my future in laws live there and it's a wonderful place. If anyone managed to visit the Spa on the sea front that is where I am getting married next year. I also hear a few players stayed at Ambassador which is where my fiance and I will spend the first 2 nights as man and wife. So I hope the hotel was first class quality.
