Congratulations to Shir and Lee on another superbly organised event.
This was my first trip to Scarborough and to say I was impressed was an understatement.
The staff at the venue were, (IMO) the best we have had so far and couldnt help enough. A refreshing change on some places that I have been into lately.
The locals that couldnt play because of our presence were intrigued not put out and on the whole every local I bumped into between the club and the hotel were very friendly. This is refreshing also.
I'd like to say thanks to Andy Warden for sending me packing after an 8 hour drive through horrendous traffic; that was much appreciated mate, cheers! lol
I'm beginning to make friends on tour and think that the job being done by the GB9 organisers is excellent, I only hope I can pull my finger out as i'm in danger of having to qualify next year.
One thing I did notice was a lot of 9's were conceded this weekend. Seemingly, more than usual. Did anyone else notice? Maybe its because I need to cling onto every hope of a mistake that I find it strange. I know its a sporting respect thing but I cant afford to do such a thing! lol
I bet Phil Burford was pleased with your handshake Riggers, easy pot for a man of his calibre but under the circumstances, ya never know!
About Phil, Can I say how nice it is to see a youngster that despite his ability appears to me to be very level headed. Many youngsters are seriously arrogant with half of this kids ability and from what I see he loses as graciously as he wins.
My late father used to give me grief if ever I sulked as a kid after losing, saying: "Boy, if you cant lose, you dont deserve to win." On this basis, I think Phil deserves every success in the future.
Sorry for the short story.....See you in Aug!

Still in Scarborough... Just finished packing everything... Just having a cup of tea and thought I'd quickly check pro9 from my blackberry... hopefully have a walk through here to relax. Then pack the car and then back home...
Thanks for the kind words Darren... By the way: think you've left your DVD's here... Also found a grey top.. Any takers for that? Oh and found a small plastic box with all kinds of things in it... Who's is it?
My reflection on the tournament will come somewhere this week...

Great venue, great weekend, and suberbly ran as usual by Riggers and Shir. A couple of the tables in the lower part were a bit rough around the edges, but still very playable i have to say. I thought all of the staff at this club were excellent too. I played ok this weekend and was pleased with a win and a quarters, although i got a bad infection in my foot...dont know how, but i am on anti biotics for the rest of the week (no beer for me) lol There were some notable performances from quite a few players....Adam Smith, Paul Medati, Craig Osborne, all had good weekends. Well done again to Phil Burford, another sound performance, he is fast becoming a force in UK pool. 2 great results for "Butch" Scott Higgins, 2 runners up places is no mean feat. Well done to Chris Robson for his win in the Challenge event, great bloke too! One final thing, i have to say that Raj Hundal was striking the ball as good as i have seen him do in a long time. Ok he didnt win but he reached 2 semis, but it was good to see him back in some good form. D4RYL. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: dazzler on 2008-07-14 13:43 ]

well done to chris and daryl too and butch 2 finals good going shame he couldnt finish the job..
agree on breaks.... i understand that sometimes u can miss it or not realise u have dry breaked.. but some players admitted that they dry breaked and carried on...seen this few times this weekend from diff players and they knew they dry breaked and carried on....find it amazing ....

Really great weekend despite the total 13 hours driving time!
Managed to play some good stuff to get to the Challenge Semi, congrats to Chris though who seemed to be playing very well all weekend.
Amazing comeback by Imran to take the Final aswell, he almost didn't make it past me in the Last 32 but showed his class with a fantastic clearance at 8-8.
Congrats Chris, Daryl and Imran on their wins!

When we say dry break I think that includes not scoring 3 points

I am presuming you are referring to the last rack in the final, I have just watched it on the Pro Tube

wasnt referring to that was referring to many other players...that did it over weekend and some players admitting it... i find it disgusting...
just this moment seen the last 2 racks of final
dont know how butch missed the 5 ball to win 11-9 his words were major tweak
at 10-10 cant believe butch didnt notice the dry break obviously he must have been thinking of the missed 5 ball rack before.., and its a blatent dry break ... even more surprisingly surely riggers and co must have been watching...
ridiculous really...

I'd also like to congratulate all the winners and Riggers and Shir but particularly all four challenge semi-finalists who I thought were just excellent on the Saturday; Robson, Higgins, Buckmaster and Appleton....and like Ads said, Liam Wilson should be exteremely proud of his performance too.
And on Shir's 'lost and found' note.....if anyone finds my missing 12hours from 10pm Sat onwards, please dispose of them safely.
