Does english 8 ball and snooker have the ego and attitude problems that 9 ball has?

I would like to hear your thoughts.

To be fair I think when people are at the top of the pile in any of the cue sports ego will come into play!

YES THERE EGO IN EVERY SPORT

english 8ball and snooker esp terrible for it!

but the difference in the 2 games to american pool is sportsmanship

snooker esp sportsmanship top class
english 8ball to say the lack of refs its pretty good sportsmanship really.

american pool pretty poor really to be kind!

Something along the slines of Sportmanship popped up at the event in Wealdstone,

for some reason I was appointed ref for a short while! In that time a discrepancy came up whereby the player shooting thought he hit the ball and the player sat down thought it was a foul.

Nobody was called before the shot was played as they should be if it is a tight call.

However, player came across and asked the ruling and with no referee the advantage goes to the shooting player, this is where sportmanship comes into it as the other player quite rightly said 'Next time I could make a deliberate foul and say I didn't yet the advantage is with me?' The answer is yes but we would hope for a bit more sportsmanship!

Not mentioning the players as they are actually very sporting but just thought it was a good point.

I've been to 8 ball events and I've been to 9 ball events over the past couple of years.

I have to say that I've not met a 9 ball player / official who is an fool.

I've met plenty of 8 ball players / officials who, in my opinion, are.

quite ironic - but after that happened, the hill hill match was decided after a ref was called to a very close call on a carum from 7 to 8 (this time the decision went to the other lad)

nothing dodgy, just ironic and quite funny

:-o

The thing about Yarmouth is even though there are plenty of refs and officials, no-one attempts to throw out the guys causing bother.

It was quite annoying to see 2 lads, who weren't even in the event, messing around on one of the tables whilst matches were being played. No one said anything but 2 tables away, a guy was disqualified in his match because his shirt didn't have a collar.

Now I know there's a dress code, but have some consistency!

Last year I got through the first round as my opponent didn't turn up. This was because they called my match out 1 or 2 hours before the published start time. This year, I asked one of the officials if the 8pm (or whatever it was) matches had started and I got abuse!

i think there is a limited few teds in every cue sport, as snooker is prodomeniently UK based then there is more etticut....(its our way) also there is alot more money in snooker so everyone gets a slcie of the cake........

however pool is a dog eat dog world where only 50% maybe even less 30% get a decent slice of cake so there is more shenanigans going on...
again REDS and YELOLOWS is Mostly UK based but still there are only 10% who get any trifle.....
I would suggest the gb9 as good etticut but the american pool scene worldwide is a bit of joke..... its shennigans where ever you can get away with it........

i seen appleton nearly get thrown out the touenament for smoking because he was winning and his opponent reported him.... i mean come on give it a rest...

then i played sambajon at ipt it was 7-4 to him race to 8 i potted the 8ball 3inch from the hole for 7-7 and he called the official over saying i didnt nominate....lololol..... and then making out it wasnt obvious... fortunatly the referee told him to turn it in.......

i would suggest 99% of UK players have alot of etticut and fair play to us for that!!!!!!!!

as for the officials as a whiley old dog once said..... to many chiefs and not enough indians....classic quote!......

machine....... just giving his views!
