RAJ vs IMRAN challenge match |

I'm sure anyone who has watched any of the recent interviews on the protube with Raj would agree that he has been quite negative regarding the cut break Imran has been enforcing on the gb9. I can understand where Raj is coming from, imo, the game is boring to watch when the break is soft and the layout of the cue ball and the 1 is clinical. However, i think the comments on the interview that is currently showing on pro9 directly insult Imrans game, as well as the general standard of the players on gb9. Obviously everyone is entitled to express their opinion, and the frustrations of losing in a decider before the interview played a part in Raj's emotions, but i feel a challenge match coming on!!!! I would love to read of other peoples opinions regarding this, and the prospect of them playing perhaps a set of 10ball.... after all, Raj "has and always be better than Imran in every single department of the game" according to his interview. I dont think Imran has anything to prove, his results in uk and European competitions show his class, I personally think that Raj is so much of a perfectionist and demands so much of himself, he is insecure about what he has achieved in the game. Perhaps he feels he should of achieved more???? just my thoughts anyway. Ive prob not put this across well , im doing stuf between sentences, so apologies

i see his frustration ,and he really should have won that match, i prefer to hit the break hard ,buT under the conditions the cut break is more consistant so i apply it too most of the time especially on match tables. raj is very talented and very good knowledge of the game and when his on, his the player i want to avoid the most in uk raj and imran will never play for money simply because imrans too carefull about picking his games.... imran turned karl boyes down because he said if karl wins he loses credability for the titles he as won and karl will benefit the most from winning more than imran would, personally i dont really agree with that, playing for money is about making money ,mick hill, english 8ball myself, reyes, paga, busta, svb etc none of them turn matches down because they got all the titles playing for money is not about ive got nothing to prove because have won this that and the other etc,Its about making money , imrans played some money matches against players he knows he shouldnt lose to,so it really boils down to he doesnt want to play if he thinks there is a good chance of losing or thats how it seems to me anyway, fair enough thats his choice nobody knocking that... but it be nice to see a few games happening ...besides the match with me and richard jones and me and worthy am up for straight pool,8ball,9ball,10ball,1 pocket if anyone fancy it scotch doubles same! Imran will never play Raj as he is not 80% sure of the win.
I think Richard Jones and Raj are playing a few sets some time soon. 10 ball, 10 ahead is what i have been told.

well i dont see any sour grapes anywhere ...
just stating what imrans said powerbreak which are facts
i got lot of respect for imrans game dont see anybody knocking that, except maybe raj with his interview ,but thats probably down to catching him straight after he lost in final.
his achievements this year on gb9ball tour is pretty remarkable esp with such big fields playing 9ball tapped tables.
as for europe i dont see anybody dominating the days of ortman, souquet winning everything as gone due to 256 improving hungry pool players

i know for a fact that Raj has a tremendous respect for most players. Yeah he has a funny way of showing it. Daz is right, the interview he gave was a bit too soon considering. Everyone keeps saying how Raj hasnt done much since his masters win but he is showing some great form recently on the gb9 and in the rest of the world, with just recently reaching the final of the Jacoby Carolina tour in the USA. He is still a class player with a lot knowledge as is imran, daz, daryl, karl etc. I think we should all appreciate hat these guys are doing for the game.

Interesting read! lol I agree with a lot of what Raj said in his interview, but there are a few things that he said that only he believes and no one else! No one can dominate in 9ball these days, there are too many good players who are capable of beating anyone on thier day. Imran has always performed well on the domestic front (dougs tour, bpppa, and now GB9) and he is the closest to my record 26 tour wins with about 18/19, Tommy has about the same too. So as far as i am concerned his record speaks for its self! I also believe a good few things that Raj said was because he was interviewed right after his defeat in the final to Imran. As far as money matches are concerned....i have only ever seen 2 UK players actually play other top players for money, and those 2 are Knight, and Appleton. All the other UK players are unproven, or just dont want to play for money (i myself am not interested in money games... I Just feel that money games may be holding our sport back, thats why its branded as "hustlers sport" etc etc......i mean you never see Federa challenging Nadal to a money match!....or Woods challenging Mickelson to the same! When everyone realises that maybe we might get some bigger sponsers to look at our sport! D4RYL. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: dazzler on 2008-06-08 17:20 ]

agree with lot you said daryl but if i was millionaire i wouldnt need to go looking for money matches but unfortunatley where in a game that i feel money games are a good revenue for income.. when the ipt started and i was doing well i stopped doing pool exhibitions simply because i didnt need to do them so i stopped advertising for them, but with not knowing what ipt holds for future am thinking of doing them again.. so in the main it boils down to cash unfortunatley... also it is great that we have 6 players and few others capable of winning any tournament in the world for such a small nation in american style pool we should be very proud of that! only if steve knight comes out of retirement can we truly have a contender in each major world event, other than him we only have Imran and our adopted son Drago. Hopefully the soft/lag break will be taken out of next years worlds. Boyze and dyno will in a few years excel that's for sure,as for the rest there good solid uk players, other than that its pretty stayle I think.

Don't think its gonna take them a few years to excel, They are both eager to play, more so than any other british player in my opinion. Their commitment to learning is pretty impressive. All the top British players are contenders in any event. Thats the awesome thing about it. Anyway, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that each and everyone of us are successful in this sport.
