GB9_2016

We are pleased to announce that the GB 9 Ball Tour will once again host all five of its 2016 events at the fantastic Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Telford. We are really grateful for their continued support of the tour and look forward to working with them again next season. We have agreed a deadline of 30 November 2015 with the venue for GB9 to secure at least 90 signed up members (entry forms and £75 deposit), the tour will be limited to the first 96 to apply and we are already a good way towards that. If however we fail to reach the required level of support by the deadline in all likelihood the hotel venue will not wish to continue their support.

We really don’t want this to happen and sincerely hope that you all get behind YOUR tour. Rest assured that if we fail to achieve the 90 player support required then all deposits will be refunded without delay.

All existing GB9 members are guaranteed a spot on the tour in 2016 providing they re-join by 30 November. Once all 96 spots are filled then your name will be added to a reserve list. If you are not one of the first 96 to apply and pay then your deposit will be refunded immediately.

** DON’T DELAY AND GET YOUR APPLICATION FORM IN NOW **

We have firmed up most of the details of the tour format for next season and in doing so we have taken on-board feedback from a number of players who have taken the time to write or talk to us, weighed up with what is achievable and workable. We are pleased to announce the following highlights:

•    Tour will be limited to 96 members – 16 Pro’s plus 80 Challenge players. Reserves will only be allowed to play if a member cannot attend an event
•    All five events will be held at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Telford, UK
•    The Main event will be double elimination to the last 16 then straight knockout
•    The official UK No.1 and No.2 at the end of the season will receive a cash bonus of £1,000 and £500 respectively
•    The top two ranked Challenge division players at the end of the season will be offered a Pro spot in the following season with a 50% reduction in fees
•    The Pro event will remain as a 16 player field playing double elimination to the last 8 then straight knockout. If you wish to be considered for the Pro division please indicate this on your application form
•    We will retain the two-tier Challenge division which has proved popular with the lower ability players
•    If there are fewer than 64 Challenge players at an event all players will play in a single Challenge event
•    ALL players will accrue ranking points, not just GB9 members. This means that anybody playing GB9 events in 2016 will have an official UK ranking
•    Continuation of Calcutta auction at all events (subject to support)
•    Vacant tables at the latter stages of the main event on Saturday afternoons will be used to host a Scotch Doubles side events (extra entry fees will be payable)
•    Midnight Flyer events to be run on Friday and Saturday evenings as usual

DO WE REALLY WANT AMERICAN POOL TO DIE IN THE UK!!
American Pool has never really done itself just in the UK. It's a shame because we have many great players!!
The number of pool clubs are dwindling the future of our game may look bleak. However we have one saving grace! The GB9 ball tour!! We have undoubtedly the best national tour on the planet!! It is actually on par with the Eurotour but yet the Gb9 is only a national tour. I don't think we appreciate this enough and sometimes take it for granted.
We need alot more players to sign up for the 2016 season otherwise the world's best tour could be in danger. If you are thinking about it but haven't yet signed up...pull your finger out and let's support the tour!! You never realise the importance of what you have until you lose it!!!

Thanks for kind words Jim, much appreciated. I can't stress enough how in the balance things are.

I hope many players are leaving it to the last minute otherwise unfortunately GB9 won't be back next season :-(

Andy some players maybe unable to pay the deposit at the moment...maybe waiting for payday or Xmas comittments. Maybe those in such a situation and want to join next season should speak to you and arrange something. I know you're a reasonable guy to deal with ;-)

I just wanted to add a comment onto this if I may..

As an amateur player, I have played 9-ball for around 2 years and play to an OK standard, I've always wanted to play on the tour but have never been able to afford to play. After all, being 23 and having to work full time plus paying for cues ect isn't easy.

I think it's difficult for people to come up with the cash just before Xmas.

I'm glad to say that I have paid a deposit and I hope the tour goes ahead as I'm excited to play my first GB9 experience.

Thanks to All. Hope it goes ahead

Up to 87 applications after closing date. Shame we couldn't make the 96 we had at this time last year. Anybody who was undecided please get in touch now. There is nothing we'd like more than to become over-subscribed and have to increase prize money!

We are pleased to announce that we have received 89 of a maximum of 96 applications for the 2016 season, this allows both us and the hotel venue to commit to the 2016 season. Thank you to everyone that has supported GB9.

As we would really like to have a full field of 96 players the GB9 committee have decided to extend the deadline for applications until 31st December, or when the tour is full. Please spread the word to all your friends and get them to fill in an application form.

Application Form for 2016 Season

The Calcutta should be less predictable at least...

...Yeah, we should see some decent action on that this year!
