My bet is one of the pro's. I'm currently seeing if i can afford the £500 for event 5 and UK Open with 4 nights accommodation. Is it compulsory to stay in the hotel venue for all 4 nights as i have not entered a GB9 event since 2008?? I know it does state on the website about not staying in the venue for tour events, just wondered if this was the case for the UK Open? Thanks [ This message was edited by: -Dazza- on 2013-07-16 12:29 ]

Not compulsory but we would certainly encourage it.
Existing GB9 players must stay for the Fri and Sat as normal but the extra nights for the UK Open are not compulsory.

Does the standard gb9 dress code apply for the open? (Apologies if this detail is on the entry form already)

Regarding the questions of staying at the hotel venue I'm afraid we are going to have to insist on ALL players staying at the venue for at least one night of the event, either Sunday, Monday or both. The hotel have expressed a concern that if not enough people stay at the venue it will not be in their interests to provide the venue room hire free of charge. Sorry for any confusion and we really hope that this doesn't put players off from what I am sure will be a fantastic event. Please support the event and YOUR tour. PS Details of how to book your accommodation are now provided on the event entry form----------------- Andy Warden, GB9 - Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √ [ This message was edited by: cueman on 2013-07-18 16:53 ]

I'm sorry, but if the hotel are insistant that we stay at least one night for the Open, surely the GB9 discount for rooms should still apply. Otherwise each entrant will be have to pay a complusary £85 + for one nights stay plus the £125 entry fee.

It's good that gb9 have put this on and I intend to enter but where has the £4000 added prize money come from? Would it not be fairer to add this to the current tour prize fund as we're the people that have paid the money? I don't think it's right that there could be someone who enters this who hasn't played on the tour for the past few years who will be the beneficiary of the added prize fund should they win, doesn't sound right to me. Just my opinion so don't shoot me for it please

rc - No GB9 members money is being used to fund the UK Open. The £4k added comes from other sources and sponsors.
Windyspurs - Yes the standard GB9 rate of £41 pp sharing and £65 single will apply.

Have to agree with Robin on this one too. Saying that the money has come from other sources doesn't exactly cut it for me because these other sources's or sponsors's money could be used to increase the GB9ball prize fund. I've always supported the GB9 tour and will continue to do so but frankly this season we've been playing for scraps. Only 5 players at each tour stop can make any profit from 1 GB9ball tour stop which isn't the best value for money at all.
Please don't see this as a go at the GB9ball tour, just think the added monies should at least go towards the prize fund for next year to reward players that have stuck with the GB9ball tour this season whilst it's not been good value for money.

You don't understand Arfan, the extra money available is because of the extra event so if we didn't hold it the money wouldn't be available anyway. The only reason prize money has been low this year is because of lack of support. The prize fund for 128, 144 and 160 players is still very good (£3,500 to the winner with a full field) but when only 70 odd players enter an event the result is a much reduced prize fund. Hopefully the UK Open will attract more players to enter the GB9 event directly before it which will in turn give a better prize fund for that event so win-win. I hope players get behind this event and also behind GB9 in 2014 as the only way we can improve the tour is with peoples support. I won't make any further comment on GB9 business here, if anybody wants to contact me personally please do so privately. ----------------- Andy Warden, GB9 - Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √
