Does anybody from the North-West fancy a trip up to watch the evening session featuring Holland, USA and England? I'm game for a bit of a laugh with it but I doubt my family can accompany me and I have no close friends that play! Portsmouth probably means a train for me and I'm looking to keep costs as low as possible!
If interested send me a PM...

Woohooo! The official World Cup of Pool posters and flyers have arrived - available in four different sizes, from small hand flyers, up to A2 poster size... ...While they do look lovely on my kitchen wall, they are for sending to clubs up and down the country - clubs like yours, so look out for them, and if you don't see one - check with your manager. I'm sending them to over 80 clubs today!

And after an hour of collating all the bits and pieces together, here's 50 of them ready to go out in today's mail... I will be personally delivering the larger posters around Portsmouth's high traffic areas, plus the student union, the shops in the immediate vicinity of the venue, and a load of the tiny ones to the 31 pubs that I've identified that have several teams in the Portsmouth Wednesday Pool League. I'll keep posting in pubs until they've all gone, but if you think there's anywhere that might do more good, please let me know. ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

Here's some interesting behind the scenes chat for you - this is a copy of the letter sent to the players. Along with details of match times and stuff, there also hotel info... The players can stay in any hotel they like, but these are the ones being suggested by Matchroom. -------------------------- 2014 World Cup of Pool Dates: Tuesday 23rd to Sunday 28th September Venue: Mountbatten Centre, Alexandra Park, Portsmouth P02 9QA, Tel: 023 92626300 How to get to Portsmouth: From Heathrow: Either bus or train to London Waterloo and then train to Portsmouth. Look on www.thetrainline.com for times and cost. If there are three or four sharing a taxi may be the best option. http://www.lesaratransport.com/ will take up to three people and luggage from Heathrow Airport to your hotel in Portsmouth for around £100. Please look on the internet for other taxi options and prices. From Gatwick: There is a direct train from Gatwick Airport to Portsmouth. Look on www.thetrainline.com for times and cost. I would recommend the Marriott. It is class and the Breakfast is awesome. I can get you a special room rate if we take more than one room. So tell me what you require and I will get you a deal. You can see the venue from the hotel and a cab can get you there in five minutes

WRONG. Most of the players are friends of mine and I just want the best for them. I get zero for this. I would also add that the hotel has a multi station gym, a large swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a steam room, a sauna and personal trainers. It has free internet, a reasonably priced restaurant plus a night club. [ This message was edited by: Doug on 2014-08-25 11:47 ]

I have been out and about putting some of the smaller posters on pool league noticeboards in pubs around Portsmouth and having a nice chat with some of the players on league nights. With over 80 teams competing this year the Portsmouth Wednesday Pool League is the biggest public house League in the South of England, and I'm getting a very positive response. Many are keen to buy tickets for the WCoP and are keen to see Earl Strickland (mainly) and Shane Van Boening and have heard of Daz and Karl etc... Some have even been to the big Vegas events too. http://www.portsmouthwpl.co.uk/index.html[ This message was edited by: Administrator on 2014-08-25 12:28 ]

It is currently £230 a twin room per night. But I am hoping to get this down to £50 per person per night (2 sharing). That is good for a quality location
