Daryl Peach signals that the only way is up now!

Daryl Peach celebrates his return to the number one spot!

Blackpool's Daryl Peach is understandably ecstatic with his number one spot at the 2006 BPPPA Guildford Open... Is there anything this man can't win?

Click on "Read More..." for the details.

The last event at Manchester went to-and-fro, with each player taking the lead at times, with both finalists running packs.

The final goes neck and neck between Peach and Morris.

This time, perhaps the newly introduced alternate break format had something to do with it, but the race was "neck and neck" all the way to the finish line, with neither player more than a couple of racks ahead at a time.

Both Morris and Peach were playing top quality pool.

The penultimate rack revealed portents of what was to come, when Morris, a former world champion at the English Pool game attempted a powerful force-follow shot for position and missed, leaving Peach exactly the same shot, only for Peach to attempt an even more difficult power draw shot the full length of the table, and he nail it!

The final hill-hill battle was a bit of an "eye opener" when Peach looked like he had to play a tough shot on the four ball, with no shot on the five!

Morris's smile is soon wiped off his face when Peach ties him in knots.

Morris, sitting in his chair, had a big smile on his face as Peach played, obviously relishing the thought of coming to the table after Peach's efforts.

Cunningly, Peach played a safety... But no ordinary safety... An absolute, well... "Peach" of a safety!!!

The smile was wiped from Morris's face as he realised he had a double snooker awaiting him at the table, both the standard type AND "Chinese" type!

It proved crucial, as Peach returned to the table and performed a flawless run-out!

I pity anyone who has to play Peach in this form... His strategy was clinical, his break was precision personified, but most importantly his nerve looks bullet-proof...

You have been warned!

Daryl on yet another clear up.

Exclusive www.Pro9.co.uk interview with Daryl Peach

Daryl congratulations, how do you feel?

"I feel over the moon because it was a strong field with a lot of past tournament winners in it, young and old, and it was pleasing to come out on top even more so because the final was a real test as both of us played so well."

Interesting, tell us more about the final.

"Well because of the new alternate break rule, and the fact that we were playing at the top of our game it was always going to be nip and tuck right to the death really, and more than any of the dozens of finals that I've won, the lag in this one was going to be more important than ever.
I feel that when I won the lag by less than a centimeter, having the final break gave me the edge when it came to the hill-hill game."

What's next?

"The World Pool Championship in Manila... I've played in it many times before, and I've never got past the last 32, but this time could be different. This time I'm playing the best pool of my life and I've never felt more confident in my own game. I think that the main difference from me now and me in the past is that when the chance comes to close a match out, I am grabbing the chance with both hands...and this is totally down to confidence, as most things are when it comes to pool at this level."

Good luck!

"Thank you".
